@098lldd Yup, they promise to have some form of decision for most applicants by May 31st. Of course, this is not a hard deadline. I was part of the rare group that didn’t hear something until after the deadline I got my acceptance letter on June 6th. The year prior when I failed to transfer, I received an SGR on April 23rd. You typically need a lot of patience with USC - more so if you get an SGR.
To back up what @zettasyntax said, the transfer notification does drag out. TTP applicants tend to hear later March to early April, with “regular” transfers hearing anywhere from mid April through mid-June. I do think the bulk gets sent out between mid-April and mid-May, but there are quite a few posting after June 1st. Either way, it’s a long wait!
Hi! I know this question is probably being asked a million times. Sorry to repeat it again, but
Is it ok if I finish the equivalent WRIT 130 course this spring, instead of last fall? I had to take a pre-req for this English class last fall. Thanks in advance!

^ ok sorry, I have no idea why that post come out two more times. Guess cc is going through some anxiety after sending the application too
Hey, do you guys think it would be a good idea for me to overload my summer with GE courses at my local community college? I don’t think I’ll have the time to complete a lot of them during the school year because of the way my 4 year plan worked out. If I’m denied for Fall 2018, I guess I’d have a better chance for next year since I already have them completed. And if I’m offered admission, I’d have them completed and might even have extra time to possibly pick up a minor or two. Your thoughts?
My advisor got back to me yesterday to tell me she did not evaluate the credits and blablabla… and then asks me questions, which I responded to last night.
Also, I see they updated required documents. My college transcripts were received but not my high school. They were sent out the same day… Hmmm…
@aznboi4981 similar experience, i requested my college transcripts to be sent out twice, once on 1/18 and a second time on 2/4, but it’s still appearing under my “required documents” section. keep waiting or send out again lol?
@clairen They recommend you finish the requirements in Fall, but it’s not necessary. You just can’t complete the writing/math requirements over the summer before the semester you applied for. If your Fall grades were good, they’ll ask you for an SGR to see if you’ve finished those requirements, and then they’ll make their decision.
Hi guys I’m super late to this but I felt the need to chime in! I’m at a CCC and hoping to transfer to USC in the fall of 2018; hoping to get into Marshall. I feel like I have a great chance of getting accepted. I’ve taken all of the classes they require except for one GE class, I have a great GPA, and solid extracurriculars.
The only issue is that it’s very likely that my business courses like economics (2) and accounting (2) courses won’t transfer AKA I won’t get credit at USC for having taken them! That’s four classes, which really sucks. I was told I’d have to take all business classes at Marshall which is understandable, but I feel like if I have to retake those classes there it will take me way longer to graduate bc of pre-requisites etc.
I heard it was possible to get some elective credit for the acct 1 & 2 classes, but that isn’t much… I’m feeling really conflicted because I want to be at USC so bad but I don’t like the idea of having to retake the classes when I could be taking something else to get ahead.
Does anyone have a similar problem?? Some insight would be great!
I feel you. In my opinion at the end of the day your salary/cost of attendance matters the most. If you have a choice between two equally good schools you should choose the one that will let you graduate quicker and has the best price/performance ratio. If your choice is between Fullerton and USC then USC is definitely the best choice.
All documents they required have been updated on my portal. Woohoo.
Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Hope year of the dog brings us all some good luck!!!
I replied to my advisor’s email two days ago (after two weeks of there being no response) and no response two days later… Ugh.
Hi all!
I just got in the letter today that acceptances might come around June 1. I feel like that’s really concerning to me because UC’s requires that you except their acceptance by June 1. Did anyone have issues last year about this? I am apply for School of Viterbi btw.
Thanks!
my college transcript is still showing up under my required documents section on YouSC, should i request them to be sent again or wait it out?? already sent it out twice (1/18 and 2/4), but it’s still not updating. The USC transfer blog post says it usually takes 1-2 weeks to process, which already passed.
@hopefultiffany on the website it says that every student will receive an admission decision (acceptance or rejection) or a spring grade request on May 31st. I would reccomend just sending in an SIR to a backup school that you would like to attend if you dont get into USC. Thats what im planning on doing
Many will hear in April and May, well before the 31st. There are some (hello @zettasyntax) that they like to torture with a decision after May 31st, but most everyone will hear well before that.
@hopefultiffany Ooh I went through this I had been accepted to UCLA (and some other schools) when June 1st rolled around and I still had not heard a single thing from USC - no rejection, acceptance, or even SGR. An SGR was unlikely given that I had applied the year before and now had accumulated 80+ units. I was fearful of a second rejection, so I committed to UCLA. I wanted to make sure I had a place to go. A few days later, on June 5th, I finally get my acceptance packet in the mail.
Like @CADREAMIN says above, most people will hear back way before June 1st, so this issue of deciding between a UC and USC at the very last minute likely won’t be an issue for most
Hey Guys! Happy to join you all for the next 4 months in this waiting game. I actually had a question on requirements: I’m a bio major, but the requirements listed specifically under the biology major are a 2 year course load(organic chemistry is a requirement). Does anybody know how things change for rising sophomore students?
