@ballard1234 TTP’s usually hear back in late march early april! I’m from LA county and a ton of my friends last year heard back around this time if they were in TTP
Many TTPs hear back with regular admits which are being mailed March 22.
What’s a TTP and how do you know if you qualify for it?
TTP is the Trojan Transfer Plan. Some students get offered a chance to transfer in as sophomore when they are “denied” as a freshman applicant. It is something they are invited to do, it can’t be requested.
im on quarter system at a UC so usc only have my fall quarter transcript. am i suppose to request my winter transcpit as well and mail to usc?
My CC uses quarters, I had my winter grades sent in right the quarter ended. You should have them sent in.
Hey! How should I go about an application update?
Thanks!
@KG5APR you don’t, they’re just going to tell you to wait until June 1st.
@CADREAMIN Do you have a source on some TTP applicants hearing back on the 22nd? Not doubting you just curious!
@Vesper7 Sorry, I was unclear. How do I update them about significant accomplishments since I submitted my application?
Hey everyone, sorry if this is the wrong place. Just curious. I’m gonna be applying to USC this fall because I’m still currently in my first year at a CCC, but I was just wondering, does anyone know if I apply as a film major if I can request a second choice major in case I don’t get in for film? Film is my passion but I know USC is super competitive for that, so I’d like to have the chance to still get into the school even if I don’t get in for film. Thanks!
@gillianes123 Yes, the commonapp gives first-choice and second-choice majors. Also, I recently attended the USC tour and the head of admissions said USC, at times, suggests a third-choice major to applicants. I suggest attending a tour and a transfer information session where they will go more in-depth about the admission process. Good luck!
@gillianes123 I suggest reading through this entire thread for tips for applying as a transfer student - also read EVERYTHING USC posts about transferring. The website has a lot of info. And check articulation agreements with your school.
@giriboy ; @OmaNebr :For the TTP, I suspect that if you are a current freshman on a quarter system, especially at a UC, you will not hear until mid to later April, at the earliest. The quarter system UC’s are going thru finals this week and grades will not be posted until after this week. That means USC will not be able to evaluate the Winter Quarter results until the first week of April, at the earliest. USC probably will want to see more class grade results than just the 3 or 4 classes taken in the last Fall quarter.
Perhaps @CADREAMIN can comment.
@csumit Yes, I have a TTP that got results on that same first day, and if you look at last years thread you will see they posted in the transfer thread on the 24th (last years first day of receiving regular decision). It varies, because let’s say it was a 4.6gpa type applicant out of high school with high test scores, etc., that had all A’s in their first quarter at a UC or other school, (or a first semester) they might not need further evidence of success in college past that first quarter. Others, like @UCBUSCalum said, they may want the second quarter grades, so they would hear later. Some TTPs are high scoring applicants that did not get in because of a full major/school that was over applied with great applicants, not because they needed to prove themselves further, but they still have to go through the TTP hoops. But I would plan out further so you don’t lose your mind. Scary thing is, if you look threads frpom previous years, people wear still getting the news in later June and into July! ugh. But majority should hear well before that.
@CADREAMIN When you say they should be mailed out the 22nd. Does that mean they would come in the mail on the 22nd for socal residents?
On the 23rd for Socal. 24th for most of the rest of the country except for those 3 day delivery zones further out from urban areas. Also note, San Diego is sometimes second day, not all of Socal gets it on day 1 if history repeats itself.
I’m applying for Marshall. If I get in can I defer for a year? And if I can defer for a year can I re-apply to another program at USC during that time? Marshall is a strong runner up to a program I have much more passion for but was sadly rejected from and I want to give it another shot at applying before I fold.

I see this on my portal:
“We have received your Common Application and USC Supplement, and it appears we require no additional information at this time. We will be reviewing applications through the month of May, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify transfers by June 1st. Sometimes, in the course of our review of applications, we find that we need additional information. In such cases we will email you a request. If you receive a request for more information, please respond promptly. In some cases we need to review final, spring term grades. If we request these of you, we will provide specific instructions on how to submit your spring grades to ensure speedy handling. In these cases, we make our final decisions later, typically by mid-July.”
