Where on the portal does this say this?
@CADREAMIN Do you think it’s possible for a TTP freshman applicant to get a decision this Friday? I got a 4.0 GPA my first semster.
Yes I do think it is possible, but hate for you to be disappointed if it doesn’t come then. But you will be good whenever it comes, congrats on a great semester!
@csumit I’m in the same position as you! I got a 4.0 last semester and I am part of their TTP program. I’m pretty terrified because I only have a semester’s worth to show them. I’m thinking they’ll probably ask me for a SGR but that’s better than a straight out rejection. How many units did you take last semester (if you don’t mind me asking)?
They need to make the TTP guaranteed if you hit certain marks - Cornell and other schools have guaranteed transfer programs. It is so stressful to wonder if you are getting in, but with a 4.0 you will should be golden if you took the right classes per your meeting with them. Kids get in with only reporting a single quarter of grades don’t have to show an SGR. Of course there are TTP that applied as freshman with a 4.6 and other high stats so they don’t really need to prove themselves. TTP students aren’t denied as freshman because of lower stats, they have the goods to get admitted, there just isn’t enough room in the major they applied and spaces open up and shifts occur freshman year to make space.
@magslovesth 15! I’m applying for engineering. What about you?
@CADREAMIN Thanks for your replies! You said that TTP students aren’t denied b/c of stats? Is this always true? I would say GPA was by far the weakest part of my freshman application. I had a 34 ACT 700+ subject tests and unique ECs.
@csumit I took 14 units in the Fall and 6 in the Winter. I applied for Business administration, but I am still undecided.
@CADREAMIN, goes to show it is just not the grades.
When my bro was going thru this, a NMF, 35 ACT, lots of ECs, 3.9 unweighted. All the APs. He got lots of rejection letters, but he got the one that counted the most.
Fight On!
do you guys think I should send in my winter quarter grades even if they did/do not ask for it? I am on track for a 3.83, which is significantly higher than my cumulative at around 3.2. I assume that they would like to see the high trend. I’ve read that a few of you guys sent it in?
@csumit Just trying to dispel the old rumors that TTP are lower stat legacies. Because they are not all that. Many are not legacy at all. It is a variety of profiles, some very high stat and some maybe lower stats, but still a fit!
@zettasyntax Just saw this message but thanks so much! What major did you apply as? I just got a notification a while back saying that Viterbi department will take until June 1st, but did this happen to the applicants last year? (Like do they just say that to torture us lol)
If you don’t mind me asking, did you end up going to UCLA or USC?
Thanks!
@hopefultiffany USC, in general, says before June 1st for every transfer applicant I believe. I’ve read that most people will receive notifications April. I applied to Viterbi as well, hopefully, we’ll both get in!
Do you think it is too late to submit all required materials? I submitted my application on time a few months ago, but after some initial concern with cost and distance I decided not to submit all of the required materials (transcripts, test scores, etc) Is it too late to send those in now?
@Anco17 Keep me updated, best of luck!
@StuartG It should be ok, (maybe 2 weeks ago) I went to 2 schools and they said I was missing a transcript from one of my schools (but they just didn’t look deeply enough) and so they said they haven’t looked too deeply into it so they missed it. He said it was fine, and I think they will send you a request if you don’t have it in. Submit it and just call them to confirm they got it. Hope that helped!
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Black
Location: SoCal
Major: Political science
2nd Major: American studies
SMC
GPA: 3.92
36 units completed, 14 in progress
ECs: Nothing miraculous: tutoring job on campus, black collegians, and I mentor girls at the local middle school once a week. I didn’t list any from high school.
Essays: Subjectively, strong. I put a lot (like a lot) of time and effort into my essays and I received good feedback.
My only regret is not getting teacher recs. I talked to a counselor, who assured me I don’t need them, but in hindsight, I think they would have really aided my app.
Hey guys, I have a question. I’m gonna be applying to transfer next winter for film production. I know this is a very competitive major, but I’ve heard that for freshman applying, USC first admits them into the school in general and then decides whether or not to admit them to their intended major. Instead, they would be undeclared or accepted to their second choice major. Does anyone know if this is the same case for transfer students? As a transfer student, are you even allowed to request “undeclared” as your second choice major? And if you did, would it severely hurt your chances of getting in? I’m trying to figure out what to put as my second choice major that will give me the highest chance of being admitted to the school in general even if I am rejected from the film program. That way, at least I could maybe minor in film and major in something else, or try switching majors later. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know. Thanks!
I’ve also heard that sometimes USC lets you put your top three majors? Has anyone experienced this? My top two choices would be film production followed by cinema and media studies, but I know these are both pretty competitive, so I’m wondering, if there is no third option, I may be better off just picking one of those for my top choice, and then picking something else that I have an interest in for my second choice.
Is it true we may get our decisions April 1st?
And do we get packages like the first year students or just emails?
