2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

When I attended the transfer day I was told that USC considers math and writing requirements heavily, and wants you to finish them early if possible. If you take math or writing in the spring prior to transferring, USC usually asks for a spring grade request.

Does anyone have a document on their portal under documents for upload entitled “appeal of admission decision”? Have I already been rejected?

@KG5APR Nope, I have it too I think it’s fine. Way too early for them to send in decisions. Plus, after looking at the past forums, I think you should get your letter the same time around when the decisions go up on the portal.

@csumit No sorry  I think it also really depends on your major/department. What’s your major?

@zettasyntax Wow, that’s intense. I’ve taken basically all the maths (taking differential currently) so hopefully I don’t have to take any more math :frowning:

Gah that’s bad news about housing though. I’m from NorCal so no way of commuting for an option. Also probably not the best if Viterbi hears back the last since they go by first come first serve. Thanks for the info!

@hopefultiffany astronautical engineering in viterbi

@csumit I’m CS so we are in the same boat (Viterbi)! There is this admissions counselor at USC I talked to a lot, but she’s not in the office until probably late April so I can’t really ask questions specifically anymore. If I get in contact with her again I’ll lyk if she answers any of my questions!

@KG5APR I don’t, but the USC portal seems really glitchy and random–don’t read too far into stuff like that or you’ll drive yourself insane!

@KG5APR @smc2usc Oh yeah, there was a lot of issues with mine bc they said they were missing a transcript to one of my colleges, but it was clearly listed on the transcript because they were both sister schools so did not have separate transcripts. They said that it was because the machine was analyzing them so they didn’t really look too deeply into the transcripts/documents yet so I wouldn’t worry. They will most likely notify you if you have any issues, and if you’re still worried you can contact them as well.

Even I have the ‘appeal of admission decision’ thing and I don’t think I had it before, does it mean I’m rejected?

@Elena1355 Where do you see that? I couldn’t find it.

It’s under Document Library @Vincent1997

I really don’t think it means anything guys. It’s still early in the review process and the portal is known for lots of weird glitches. Don’t read into these minor things too much.

Lol that’s a relief @NotLonelyIsland really don’t want to be rejected. And don’t they start reviewing applications around this time?

Yeah they do haha I feel you. Don’t worry last year people started speculating when that option got REMOVED for them around April xD http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1903737-2017-2018-usc-transfer-p197.html.

@NotLonelyIsland THANK YOU YOU GAVE ME HOPE

@CADREAMIN do you have any idea when the second (first?) round of transfer decisions will go out?

@CADREAMIN Just curious, what’s the reason you recommend not applying for film studies? Thanks for your veritable goldmine of USC info, btw

@FilmAve the USC film school is really hard to get into. It has an under 1% acceptance rate.

so, if we aren’t going to find out about USC admission until late May, how are we supposed to reply to the schools we have already been admitted to that have a deadline of May 1st???
