2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@yourfrienddavid thank you for the clarification!

how do you sign up for USPS informed delivery

@csumit Yeah I live in LA so it should arrive quickly once they send it. And now we wait…

@SmartJarhead Hopefully we hear tomorrow!

Jersey here… hopefully on Saturday?? :-?

For asian international students…which do you think will arrive first, the package or the portal update? :-SS

@Dyang525 I’m an international Asian student too, I think the portal will update first.

@prostrans55 How do you check your USPS package status?

Since freshmen were mailed packages last Thursday and the portals updated on Sunday at 12 AM, I’m guessing some of our portals should be updated at 12 AM PST today, since the decisions were mailed out Monday?

I applied to USC for transfer as a junior. I applied as a chemistry major with public policy as a secondary major. In terms of stats, I had a 3.76 high school GPA unweighted with 9 AP courses and the rest honors and a 33 ACT. For college, I have a 3.4 overall GPA, but a 3.87 GPA in the Chem major. My college GPA is low because I did not do well my first semester because I had a conflict with my parents, which has thankfully been resolved. I’m wondering how USC sends its decisions out? Do they come out in waves? Are the ones who had their decisions send out early the ones with higher GPAs or TPP?

@MBlue98 It’s pretty much rolling admissions. The first one to be accepted was apparently WITHOUT TPP. He had a higher GPA, although I do not think that the GPA matters as far as decision speed is concerned.

@Vincent1997 I’m kinda concerned since I did not do particularly well during one semester, but I provided additional information for the context. What is USC actually looking for in terms of transfer?

@MBlue98 Tbh I can only give you the stereotypical reply that USC would give you. They review holistically, so one bad semester won’t necessarily mean that you get rejected. The issue is that nobody knows, except the admissions team.

Does anyone know of applicants in SoCal who’ve heard back other than that one person? Weird too because they attend IVC and that’s right by my house

@typicalmango Nope. Just that guy. They just send the decision whenever they finish reviewing the application. No idea on how they decide who to look at first. Location? Date of application? Credits? Major? Random? Who knows…

I submitted my application on December 11 and I live very close to USC.

Wow! So glad I jumped on here before bed to see @prostrans55 acceptance! Congratulations!!! I literally screamed for joy like It was me who got it.
You should be proud! Are you going to commit?

This is a stressful time for everyone and I’m happy to see decisions already going out! This year I decided to have all college correspondence sent to a rented mailbox. If I get a package that won’t fit in the box the guy who owns the place will call and tell me. I’m going to be watching my phone like a hawk the next week. Lol if I see that phone number pop up I hope I’m not in a public space because I will scream.

Also, does USC treat GPA from a 4 year or a 2 year differently? I’m from a Top 40 ranked four-year university. Over half of admitted students are from community colleges. The average admitted student had a 3.7 GPA. Do they have a higher threshold for CC students?

@MBlue98 I did see a story about someone with a 3.5 or high 3.4 at Berkley get rejected, so that seems to suggest no, but who knows. That’s just one isolated incident though.

I don’t think location has anything to do with when they review your application. I submitted my application uber early (since I had applied the year before, I was more prepared) and I live like 8 miles away from USC. It’s probably more of an admissions counselor thing. I didn’t hear from mine until early May and he was like “It looks like we’re missing your high school diploma”. This certainly leads me to believe that he didn’t even look at my application until this time if the missing document was barely being pointed out.
