2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@zettasyntax Would you mind sending me a PM? I have a question but I don’t think I’m able to send messages first yet, presumably due to lack of posts

No on the Pitney Bowes this comes from USC. 90089

@CADREAMIN Are you sure? It seems like some schools use PB. It would be a good way to hide the fact its coming from SC.

They do not. I am sure.

@CADREAMIN When do portals usually update? Is it midnight a day after they mail?

@uscttphope On the USC admissions Instagram, you can see them mailing out packages from the admissions office. They assemble the packages there and put them in USPS bins. It doesn’t make sense to go through other companies.

My current university assembles all of our admission packets ourselves but we use a third party to actually send them out. The reason is that the company can offer bulk prices due to their deals with USPS; it’s cheaper to send through them than USPS directly. It may be similar with USC.

They take great pride in their mailing which they have done the same way for decades. The USPS trucks come to them to pick them up - All 8,000+ of regular admissions are sent on the same day by the admissions department. As mentioned above, check Instragram for USC Admissions or any Facebook post around March 20 of any year, they always post a picture. Transfer results spread out over weeks is just a drop in the bucket for them compared to RD.

I strongly recommend getting off of USPS and going on with your life. This can go on for a while and it will make you lose your mind.

Just got my acceptance letter today! My portal updated later this afternoon. I’m from the east coast btw

@FriesAreBae CONGRATS!!! Are you TTP? What is your major?

@KG5APR Thanks! ^-^ Yes, I am TTP. I’m majoring in Business Administration with a pre-professional emphasis in pre-accouting. How about you?

@FriesAreBae Applied as CS but am hoping to change to CS and Physics

hello all! I am a transfer applicant (freshman now at a UC) for the sociology major. At my current school, we are on the quarter system, fall quarter I had a low GPA (around a 3.25) mainly due to circumstances of the Thomas Fire. Long story short, our finals were postponed and we were evacuated from campus in the middle of finals week, so my final grades were impacted much more than I would’ve hoped. I explained all this in my application and to my USC Admissions counselor, who I have been in contact with a lot since the beginning of the school year. Winter quarter, which we just finished, I pulled off getting all A’s. I have also completed all prerequisites for both applied majors, 5/8 GEs (taking the 6th now), and I am currently in a 3rd level foreign language class. I just sent in my winter quarter grades however, my GPA is still just below the average 3.7. Obviously I know no one on here knows exactly/for sure, but anyone know/can possibly predict my chances of getting a SGR? Or has any input on my chances in general?

I got a request for spring grades (TTP, currently a freshman at a CC) and assuming I send them in by the end of May, when will I get my final decision?

@elleerain Another TTPer made a group, so I decided to simply delete the group I created to avoid overlapping. It is called “USC TROJAN TRANSFER PLAN ADMITS C/O 2021”

@joeyfreshwater what is your current gpa. you are a ttper, i am wondering why would they need sgr from you.

@collegekid82 I see USC as being okay with more average grades your first quarter given the circumstances. You definitely started to show an upward trend with your winter grades now that the situation is better  However, it may not be a lengthy enough pattern. A ton of sophomore transfers get SGRs because USC likes to see consistent full-time attendance. With two quarters under your belt, it might not be enough for USC to make a decision. It’s definitely possible to just get straight up accepted, but the odds would be leaning more toward an SGR in your case.

@joeyfreshwater It could be a week. It could be four weeks (like me!) :stuck_out_tongue: However, given that you’re TTP I would hope they expedite the review of your spring grades.

If you were to transfer in as a sophomore, how many extracurriculars should you take as a freshman? And which ones would you recommend in general? Should you also do any internship? (I am taking no chances with my transfer application).

I honestly have never felt more at home at a university. People are great and the diversity is there also LA has a great vibe to it so theres so much culture. I’ve been going to usc since I was in highschool for this club thing and I’ve made so many amazing friends. Even though I moved away and went to school in nyc the majority of my favorite people and closest friends go to usc @SmartJarhead If youre nervous about meeting easy going or nice people don’t even worry at all!

@StipendAwarded you can do as many as you feel comfortable with! But, remember to still have a high gpa and those transferable classes knocked off. I was in two clubs and did four huge internships up into my sophmore year right now. However even doing all of those I could still be rejected for say not having every GE done or something else. Just focus on your grades and make sure those classes are gonna transfer in a zip. Thats the most important lesson I’ve learned!
