Ok I see thank you so much everyone for your input much appreciated!
For the kid who went to all unified, would there be an option to do the audition online if the slots in-person left donât work for you? Or is that not the option and in that case not being able to be in person means not doing the audition or depends on school? Thanks
The student who had to do all the unifieds did so in 2020 before the virus changed everything. More virtual options are available now, but they still fill up.
New to this process (like many others) so my daughter did not even consider possible benefits of submitting on the early side- it does seem like a great way to alleviate stress. She didnât start looking at requirements and deadlines until September. Though it seems like many schools will lag into January no matter how early the student submits.
My D just got notified that Texas State is not doing Chicago Unifieds and has gone virtual. Not a bog deal for us becasue we live in Illinois, but for those of you with flights and hotels⊠I have a feeling some of her other schools will pull out as well. Keep checking those Acceptd emails and portals!
- Correction my D just told me all callbacks for Texas State are now virtual not just Unifieds.
Update: FSC had computer issues on Monday and sent out results on Tuesday 1/4. First prescreen pass over here, woohoo!
Congrats and best of luck!
congratulations! What does FSC stand for?
Florida Southern College, Sorry:)
Have you heard anything back from Pace? D submitted end of December and we are wondering if it will be reviewed before their winter break is over. TIA
Who else is still waiting on prescreens? We are waiting on NYU Steinhardt and Hartt. Hartt says everyone should hear by Jan 18, but Iâm thinking if it was a pass, weâd know by now. And I know we might not hear from Steinhardt until decision time. But those are our last 2.
We made a last-minute decision to submit prescreen materials to Hartt and did so on Dec.15. We havenât heard back from them yet either, but Iâm not surprised. I heard after we applied â and I canât remember where (???) so take it with a grain of salt â that they received more applications than normal this year. With Dec. 15 being so close to the holidays, Iâm not surprised we havenât heard yet â but thatâs our specific situation. I expect that weâll hear from them next week.
They sent out an email recently saying that due to the number of submissions, they would be responding by Jan 18 at the latest, so maybe thatâs where youâre remembering that from? Itâs so hard not to make assumptions while youâre waiting!
Still waiting on Columbia. They said by Jan. 11th. So, weâll see.
For acting, waiting on USD, CalArts & UCLA, Purchase and CCCâŠbut thinking itâll be a few weeks yet.
Yes weâre waiting for Pace, prescreen submitted Dec 2nd ⊠anxiously waiting âŠ
Weâre also waiting for NYU, UCs, USC, ⊠only heard from CMU n (UMich today) update - No, no news from UMich yet, itâs just a reminder email
Hope itâs a positive sign, n awaiting DD to check on details. Today got an email from UMich saying âThis is a reminder to go to your audition/interview invitation email and click the link to sign up for your audition/interview date as soon as possible before your preferred date fills up.â
(Update - ohhhh not yet, no invitation link!!)
My daughter doesnât have a coach, but we were told by every summer intensive she did (ArtsBridge, NEXUSâŠ) to get the PreScreens in by September 1st. (All of the college audition guides/workbooks also say to start getting your stuff done as soon as the prescreens are openâwhich is usually in early August). In addition to the things already mentioned by others (less stress senior year, first come first served as far as audition slots), one of the directors specifically said that there is a fatigue factor with the auditors (not in any way intentional, just human), and you want them looking at your prescreens early in the process. I can understand that given the sheer volume of applications they are getting. Since you are a Junior, itâs a great time to be looking ahead and setting goals. In our case, my daughter has ADHD and is easily overwhelmed. September was stressful, but we were completely done with applications by 10/10, and it was a real blessing because by that time, school projects were in full swing. November would have been a nightmare if she had put it off.
