If you feel confident that you can improve on critical reading (like if your practice test scores are consistently higher), then go for it. But if you don’t feel confident that you can improve it, then I would advise against this because 5 is a little too many.

I wanted him to take the math again, because with superscoring, there would appear to be nothing to lose, and he got the 700 in math with very little prep work.

But he did not take it again.

By the way, isn’t it too late to take it again, even if he wanted to do it now?.

What is the last sitting for the SAT where there will still be enough time for the results to be considered by colleges for Fall 2012 admission?

I do not agree that taking it 5 times is bad. If the rules are that you can superscore, then you are simply taking advantage of the rules to maximum extent.

That being said, it is not critical that you take it again. Your 800 in math speaks for itself.

Do not retake it. There is a video from Harvard admissions and they say in it that they don’t like to see students retake a 2300 because after they hit that level their time should be more well spent on things such as their EC’s or even hanging out with their friends. I was surprised to hear that, especially the part about hanging out with friends. So leave it as it is. :)

Why would you retake? I don’t think you’ll get rejected anywhere because your score is too low or anything like that. What is motivating you to do this?

I would really just leave it. First of all, 2300 is nothing to be whining about. Second, you’ve already taken it four times, that already looks bad, taking it a fifth time would look even worse.
