680, I believe. On mine from May, I had 60mc and an 8 essay = 590.

How do you figure that number?

and what are your goals for the November sitting?

From the BB, lol.

I want a 2000+! Butttt, it doesn’t hurt to want lol.

You’re right. It hurts to want and not get! ha

I did some work on the essay today. I really need to work more on the mc though. Only a week of studying left, gotta do it.

@Marie, Writing was 690. The first section of writing actually went fine. But I was tired by the end of the test for section 10 and totally bombed it (5+ mistakes)! O_O

I was so stupid the last time I took the SAT with regards to preparation. Admittedly, I had some big things coming up the following week (APs and EC stuff) but it was just ridiculous.

Well, as of tomorrow, I’ll be kicking it up a few notches! Gonna start working on all 3 sections and take practice tests! Goodbye sleep and hello dark under-eye circles! :)

690 on Writing is still pretty good! When I took my first SAT back in May, I did zero studying. I didn’t even know what sections were going to be on it, lol.

anyone can explain me what are raw scores and how SAT scores are computed??? i visited collegeboard website but couldnot understand it!! i just took 2 practice tests and got the raw scores and i want it scored upon 2400!!

Every question you get right = +1
Every question you get wrong = -.25(except on math fill-ins)
Every question you leave blank = 0
You won’t be able to calculate the essay…

Example: Math(out of 54)
There are 44MC and 10 fill-ins.

Hypothetically let’s say you got 40MC right, and 4 wrong. No omits. You would get +40, and -.25x4=-1 so your raw score would be 39 for the MC.
Then there are 10 fill-ins; let’s say you got 8 right and 2 wrong. That’s +8 but -nothing because there is no penalty for wrong answers on the fill-ings.
39+8=(47) is your raw score.

You can then enter the 47 raw score into a chart and see your score out of 800. If the test you took was a real SAT that was given, you may be able to find the curve on that particular test and know the exact score you would have gotten. If it was a made up test by Kaplan or Princeton Review, then you can get a general idea of your score, but it won’t be exact.

Here’s a general: [The SAT Scoring Scale](The SAT Scoring Scale)

thankx a lot reckie

Hurricane Sandy! I expect no school Monday / Tuesday, and maybe even Wednesday.

LOTS of studying to be done.

Woah! It’s just been windy like crazy here from Sandy.

Have you seen an improvement in your Math yet or anything else? I have barely seen one in mine and I’m getting pretty discouraged… :(

Honestly, I haven’t even started studying for it. I’m going full out writing this week, and then I’ll have 30 days for math.

If it makes any correlation, I’ve been studying for writing and it keeps going down!

1 Week. Main focus is writing! Need to MAKE SURE I ATLEAST get a 760 on both Math and Writing. Critical Reading has been fluctuating for me from 610-700. Goal: Math- 780 Writing- 760 Critical Reading- 680. Also, 1 question. Will this be the thread where everyone goes over answers after the test? Let the studying being NOW!

I don’t understand people who can get 760’s on math…

What did you use to study for writing? That’s what I’m doing as well.

This probably won’t be the answers thread, but you’re free to talk about whatever you want here. Someone will make one when the date gets closer.

What don’t you understand about people getting 760’s?

Some of the questions are just ridiculous… and I can’t get over a 640 on any practice test. What book did you use to study math?

@Adeetz,
“Will this be the thread where everyone goes over answers after the test?”
No, there will be specific threads for each section of the the Nov. SAT.
Wow, a 760 on Math and Writing would be awesome! Good luck to ya on that!

@Reckie,
My Math hasn’t hardly improved, my CR has increased with no prep, and my Writing is dropping a tad…
