Okay so I've been panicking for a while now and just made an account to ask this. I have a 3.1 GPA because I really messed up my first 2 years of high school. Mostly Bs and Cs, no Ds. I take both IB/AP classes. And because of my GPA I'm not sure if I can make it into a college. I wanna go somewhere in San Diego but I'm not sure what my chances are. What colleges in the area would accept my GPA? Colleges in CA/AZ/NV? What can I do to improve my changes for college? I do alot of volunteer work and am involved in many school clubs and I'm even president of one. I have yet to take my ACT/SAT and will take them in June. I'm working really hard to get a good grade on them. Any info would be helpful, thanks.
Im a Junior, Class of 2014 btw

Of course you can make it into a college. Don’t be silly.

ASU
USC are in your reach

Both ASU and U of A would accept you.
As for UCs… UCR/UCM, possibly UCD/UCSB are definitely options…

Hey. Calm down. You’ll get in. Many kids don’t seem so motivated as you and still get in. Give UofA a look-up. Or sure, ASU. There’s no harm in trying for UCSD as well. Try for more colleges in-state.

UCSD is a reach in your situation but it will not count the freshman year against you.

ASU: Aim for 24+/1700+
UAZ: Aim for 24+/1700+
UNLV: Aim for 24+/1700+
UCSD: Aim for 31+/2100+

My friend had a 3.1 GPA and she made it to a college of her choice.

A 3.1 is not THAT bad- what about some of the CSUs?

@mikey23000, i have similar worry as yours now, and just wondering if you got in where you like

You have Junior year to help improve your GPA, but most of the posters are giving you unrealistic chances for UCSD. Average GPA is 4.13/ ACT of 30/SAT of 2100. UCR/UCM would be the only UC’s in which you would have a good chance, possibly UCSC. The rest of the UC’s are extremely competitive.
There are many very good Cal States that would have good chances at getting an acceptance. Cal State Channel Islands, San Marcos, Domiguez Hills, Monterey, Northridge. If you can afford private, there is Azusa Pacific, Redlands, Whittier Colleges in California.
Like several posters stated above, ASU,UAZ and UNLV are also possible.
Work hard your Junior year, get that GPA up, study for the SAT/ACT and repost with all your new information.
Good Luck to you.
