4/14 ACT Thread

I thought the Science was the hardest..Math came in at a close second..

I ran out of time on the math though....

There was nothing grammatically incorrect about the dash; however, it was inconsistent with the overall tone of the passage and unnecessary.

Science and Math were extremely difficult.

thanks for clarifying. I never really thought about it from that angle.

As long as the one with the dash is not the answer I'm happy :)

for the T and U one i remember putting 9(t-u) but i put A... now that i try to do the problem, i dont see how it works, can someone explain it... and do you think there was one where it was 9(u-t) cuz i distinctily remember trying one example which i thought was 9(t-u) and it worked so i just put it down.

smilingsuzy: I believe the dash was in the Benjamin Banneker passage, but as long as it wasn't necessary, I'm happy.

In that same sentence, was it "kept" for the verb?
I assumed "has kept" was wrong (despite being grammatically correct), since [presumably] the clock does not keep accurate time now (250 years later). Sound logic?

I put has kept

simple but versatile boat

not simply

It's all good, thanks though.

i still think that stupid bubbles question is bad

In the science?

What's the consensus on the kayak question:

The whole kayak is covered except for the seats. Necessary or no?

It was. It gave details.

yeah in the science

I put "omit" because it was unnecessarily wordy, and the only other detail in that paragraph had to do with the lengths of the kayaks....

i think we should complain about the bubbles question with the 15min-2hours vs. over 2 hourse since the wording was so ambiguous and it we still can't figure out what the answer is

for the one with the "t" and "u" in math....

the original number is 10t+u, the reversed number is 10u+t, so the original minus the reversed is 9t-9u, or 9(t-u)

if the question asked for reversed minus original, it would be 9(u-t), but I can't remember which one it asked for

I put over 2 hours because there would be no bubbles left after that. **** THIS TEST.
