cool, thanks! :)

That counselor needs to be fired.

That really sucks. I thought I had all my units cause I took summer classes and such, but because I couldn't get into a class I was originally planning to take, I ALMOST thought I could just take three classes for this semester. Thank goodness I checked, and now I'm just taking a health class.

But like all the other people said... definitely find a community college that is on quarter system and enroll in some class!!

If you're fast enough you could probably get into an online ******** class at some community college that runs on a quarter system- aka Foothill.

Goodluck!

I'm sorry for your situation, but I really don't understand how you could not know how many credits you had and how many you needed.

In my experience, most CC guidance counsilors are worthless. Mine just basically told me to figure it out on my own. None-the-less, this isn't all your councilors fault. You should have been paying more attention. How could you know your GPA without noticing your units?

Is it too late to sign up for career courses at your school? Those are usually easy units.

Yeah, you just have to prove to them you REALLY want to go there.

Maybe you can find an online PE course where you just have to report that you did some jogging or something?

i wish i was dead.....that's the best way to describe how i'm feeling at the moment.

Last semester i took 6 classes, and had no life of any sort and exhausted myself.......all for no reason. My counsellor called me crazy, then told me atleast i only need to take 3 or 4 now for the next semester. So i take 5 thinking that way i'll be way ahead on my unit count. Months of waiting, anticipation, acceptance that i'll be done with EVC. SJSU accepts me, sends me email after email begging for my SIR. Now i get a letter telling me to go **** off, and i realize why people with lesser stats than me have been accepted to UCD while i've sat here waiting so impatiently for my decision. Now before it even comes i already no i have no chance......**** i can't even get into SJSU. I don't have any idea what the hell to do. When i didn't know what to do from before, i went to the counsellor thinking that's what he's there for. but no he's just there to **** you up even more. I don't know if it's too late for me to take a course from deanza online, if that could help me in an appeal to Davis, or is that not appeal worthy? Is davis just completely out the window for me? I'll be working the phones like a madman tomorrow if i can.....

What CC do you go to? If you want to, you could try and sign up for 8 week courses at Mt. Sac that start next week, only if you live within reasonable distance though. Or you could do an 8 week online course that starts next week as well and only have to drive to Mt. Sac a few times.

Edit: Oh you go to De Anza? Well a 6 hour drive if you want to go to Mt. Sac.

NoMoreWait ... just because SJSU is not understandable about your situation does not mean UCD will not work w/ you. To the contrary, they useually can work something out. I remember last year when I got acceptances and I looked on UCD conditions for enrollment, it stated that if I was having difficulty in any of the current classes to please contact them and they are usually able to work something out including summer classes which was a relief because at the time I wasn't doing too well in stats class. I ended up not going there, but I was still impressed that they really try to work w/ the students.
The previous posts were right, take a late start online class and petition UCD if you have to. Either way, w/ persistence....you'll get in.

I go to Evergreen Valley College....I'm going to try taking an online class at Deanza though since they offer quarterly units.

Is that normal to have to have 60 credits to be accepted to a college or is that just for California schools?

NoMoreWait, I really hope the best for you, I can't imagine how much my heart will sink if I was in your situation.

I feel for you.

wow dude that sux. take care of everything and talk to your counselor and tell how bad he/she is at counseling or even counting units.

regardless, its a good thing to learn not to rely on those stupid counselors. I never made an appointment with a counselor to talk about my academics or about what classes i should be taking.

yeah, rule of thumb... never trust an advisor

Stop freaking out. Just contact SJSU and tell them that you updated your schedule with an additional course. There is NO way that you will be unable to find SOME online course that starts around now.

Additionally you can contact them and ask them if you can make it up in the summer.

Also - it is not just 60 units- it is 60 transferable units- so that is why a lot of people may think they have enough but do not.

Also- you can be as mad as you want at your counselor but in truth it is your responsiblity to be in charge of your education plan and to use counselors as a tool in your planning not as the guiding force.

Having less than 60 semester transferable units is a difficult situation to be in. Your chances of being admitted depends on your major and courses completed. As others have suggested try your best to enroll in an additional spring course; this will strengthen your appeal to UCD if you need to file a non selection appeal. You can also appeal stating your situation and adding a summer course; although, not typically allowed, summer course work may be an option because of your situation and circumstances.
