I'm currently enrolled in a community college and thinking about transferring to UC Berkeley next fall as a Rhetoric major. Is it possible to finish 60 transferrable units in one year? What are my chances, really?

Sure - especially if you are starting with some AP credits in your back pocket. you can do the math.

You’ve got 2 summers and 2 semesters. 12 units in each summer, 18 units per semester and viola, you are there. The challenge will be getting the right 60 units and maintaining the GPA required to get into UCB. I also think you’ll find the UCs won’t consider courses taken the summer before transfer (the classes transfer but, the units wont be counted toward your 60 - that’s a big hurdle.

If you are starting with 15 or 18 AP credits, you could probably get it done but, you’ll be pretty miserable with the workload.

Good luck.
