A bit of advice regarding my essay

New to this site, but I am wondering if anyone can give me advice on the essay. I just have a few questions.

I would like to apply to college of arts and sciences. I have recently chosen to major in some type of science. Environmental science and geography are interesting to me, which are choices in the supplement. Geology and meteorology are also interesting, but they are not choices. Also, engineering is still a choice for me, but that is a completely different school. So, I guess my real questions are:

Should I decide on a major listed under the college of arts and sciences and discuss it in my essay?
Or should I select undecided and talk about my choices in my essay?
Finally, would it be a bad idea to talk about engineering in my essay (even if the type relates to my arts and sciences major) because I am not technically applying to that college?

A little nervous here! Thanks for any input.

The point of the essay is to give some insight into who you are, your passions, goals, what gets you up in the morning, and, through this, whether you would make an interesting addition to the Class of 2016.
It’s not really important to talk about an intended major in your essay; I would recommend only when it is integrally linked to the essay objectives outlined above.
I would be hesitant about discussing engineering when you’re applying to Weinberg, but of course you might have some idea of how you’d tie all that together that I can’t divine from the little bit you’ve said.
Finally, geology and meteorology certainly exist at NU. Look under “Earth and Planetary Sciences.”
Good luck.
