If I'm trying to get a full ride, how important is the personal statement? If I write a reasonably okay essay, and meet the SAT/Class rank requirements, is there a way that I could still not qualify for the full ride?

Also, how many people submitted a letter(s) or recommendation? Again, if I want to get a lot of money, would submitting one give me a better chance of getting money, or do most people who meet the SAT/Class rank requirements not send one anyway?

Also, if I want to get into the honors college, are there any special requirements that need to be sent besides the RU application/personal statement/SAT scores/self-reported grades?

Thanks in advanced, I kinda really need an answer soon lol.

Another question:

On the part of the RU application where it says number of courses per subject (Number 25 on the application), it says that " (1=One academic year) ". If I took a 10 credit course in one subject, would you count that as 1 or 2 when filling out the number of courses per academic subject?

Another question: Where it says last SAT test date, does this only refer to last SAT 1 test date, or does this include the last test date for SAT 2's as well?

If you are referring to money provided through the Outstanding Scholars program, the size of the award, in the past, was based solely on class rank/SAT scores. Nothing would prevent you from receiving the amount for which you qualified under those criteria.

Originally, funding for these awards was provided by the state. State funding was eliminated 2-3 years ago and Rutgers funded the awards itself. There have been questions over continued funding. Has RU announced the policy for the class entering 2009?

As far as honors college admissions go, you needn't send anything other than what you indicated.

Is the personal statement meant to be creative/unique or is it just straightforward "This is what I do" kinda type of thing?
