A Giant Thank You!

to all of you on this forum for the past year and a half as my D has made her college admissions journey, especially M2CK, Momreads, Omama, Sea_Tide and the many others who have patiently answered all questions relating to Alabama and for offering up so much information. And thanks to everyone who has been on the same journey with us and is looking forward to joining the UA family in the next few months. As well as those whose paths will lead them somewhere else.

I was at a church function this weekend & started talking to a mom whose son will also be a freshman at UA this fall. I started talking about AA & OA & WOW & Family Weekend & football packages and she had no idea. I took my CC knowledge out into the world & gave her the 411 but it really impressed upon me how in the dark I would be if it wasn’t for y’all.
Roll Tide!

So true! I cannot thank y’all enough, either. Wishing all of you the best of luck as you finish senior year.

We are in complete agreement! CC and all of the amazing posters have made it so easy to really come up to speed with just about everything there is to know about making the college decision to setting up a dorm room. We thank everyone!

We never even would have found UA if not for an “intervention” from M2CK. CC has played a big part in the college app process for us.

^^^
Ha ha…the power of PMs!!!

^^^Nah, the power of you, m2ck. Mahalo nui loa.

Awwwwww… thanks :)

^^^Mom, is that a shade of crimson you’re blushing? :)

wait? what??? the power of Mom2K’s PMS?

kidding - this board has been a lifesaver. :)

Ditto!!! We have learned SO MUCH from the helpful parents on CC! You guys are GREAT!!!ROLL TIDE!

Lovefest!!!

Yep, shades of Crimson blush… :o

the power of Mom2K’s PMS?

Ha ha…y’all would know if my PMS had such power…

Absolutely the truth! I am constantly amazed at the time and generosity given by all, but especially by M2K, Momreads, and Sea_tide. These folks are the best! I think their blood runs crimson, even ‘inside’, and because of that, others have caught the fever!

Roll Tide :)

M2CK- Another thank you coming your way.

Also a load of thanks to Sea_tide and momreads.

You ALL have been so helpful. I will have to stay in touch as my son is only a junior and will start the admission process this fall. Keep the info coming. Especially the engineers!

I agree with everything hokiefan said. DD is a Junior also and we have learned more from this group than all of the others combined. Many thanks!

I am loving this thread. I too am a Mom that hopes my kids takes a serious look at UA later this year.

We have great instate choices but they would cost us so much more than UA with the scholarships they offer. So, we will see.

I am not pushing it on her, but secretly I hope she loves it and that when we visit she is blown away by it all.

We shall see. We will submit the official application in August or as soon as the application is available.

FYI, the application was available on July 1st last year. D filled it out and filed on July 3rd (she was going away for 3 weeks) and had her transcripts sent on July 28th. She had her acceptance in hand by at the beginning of August.

Thanks RobD. That is helpful and fast! Wow.

When did she hear aout scholarships, etc.?

Just pulled the letters (I needed to do that anyway for senior recognition info anyway!)
Acceptance letter: August 5th
Presidential scholarship letter: September 2nd
NMSF scholarship letter: October 7th (which is the Presidential)
Honors College Acceptance: November 30th (but I don’t think it came in the mail till mid December)
NMF scholarship: April 5th.

After the original application is put in, the school will send your child a CWID (Campus Wide ID?) Then there is a separate (and very simple) application for the “automatic” honors programs (University Honors, International Honors [Honors College - Apply](http://honors.cbhp.ua.edu/index.php?page=apply)) and another for scholarships ([Entering Freshman Students - Undergraduate Scholarships - The University of Alabama](http://scholarships.ua.edu/freshmen/index.html)) There are more extensive applications for the competitive University Fellows and CBHP programs.

Thanks RobD! These links are helpful.

Congratulations to you and your D. Although my D is not a NMF, seems she should qualify for the rest of these scholarships. She is also going into engineering so it seems to be a pretty good deal

Congrats again, I am sure that you are thrilled to know where she will be spending the next 4 years. What area of the country are you located in?
