a post for all of us Early Decisions

Well, then that most likely means you have been accepted if you now have an NYU email address. But you haven't heard from NYU yet?

legionaire you posted it October 15 and he responded November 1st...

http://nyu.infopop.cc/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/1194015161/m/7711053861/r/7711053861#7711053861

I haven't received anything from them in the mail, no.

After reading posts on this board, I went to the NYU website https://start2.nyu.edu/ibin/start0.cgi and plugged in my social and birthdate... then an ID turned up.

I just don't know whether I should take this as a great sign or if it's no big deal and I should just ignore it for now. I'm gonna just assume the latter since I don't want to get my hopes up and then have them crushed.

hmm mine says "Our record of your NYU ID and NetID differ from what you have typed in."

eek...

justwondering, that's what mine says to and I'm not sure what think about it.

Did you follow the "Don't know your NetID" link and enter your social?

im not gonna risk makin anything till i get the rest of my GSP info

what did your NetID look like?

yah the top link and typed in my SS#, Birthday, and e-mail

Like my NYU friends' IDs... initials and a number.

firewalker why don't you try putting in your SS#, bday, and e-mail and see if it works for you..if it doesn't then we can be sure it doesn't mean anything.

If they're admitted for Fall '06, wouldn't both students accepted ED and GSP get their NetIDs around the same time?

Thats why I want to see if firewalker's info works...try it firewalker and let us know what it says. If it works..then thats an indicator.

I thought someone posted earlier that EDs don't get their IDs til February or something... I'm wondering if it'd be different since I'm trying to transfer next semester. Wow, this process is making me way too anxious.

fine, ugh***
this is what i got "Our record of your NYU ID and NetID differ from what you have typed in."

I'll just give the admissions office a call tomorrow and see what the deal is. I'll post whatever they tell me about NetID assignments (like if they are only issued to students or people who have participated in summer programs or if they're issued to applicants in general) and what dates they're normally issued for people entering Fall '06.

Is it harder for international students to get into stern, especially those who dont do the US syllabus? My SAT scores are pretty good ( 1480(maths + reading)/ 2140, SAT2s maths 800, physics 780), and my school marks are top 10%(4/80), but because my course is so tough that the marks i get out of 100 are relatively lower.

Also Would NYU compare me with other international students with similar background or with the US applicants?

by the sounds of your scores you have a great chance at getting on, napalm

emails don't come out until late winter/early spring. trust me. the thread from last year was full of this too. No one's real id's at there. It will keep giving you an error message. We tried last year. We failed. It won't work this year either.

I mean, I have the ID. And also an email address apparently. I got an error message last week, but this week the ID came up and there was no error message. Again, I'm not an ED/RD applicant... I'm applying as a transfer for Spring '06, so I doubt the IDs would be issued at the same time as they would for students applying for Fall. I don't know if this means anything at all about the decision they've made, but the ID and email address definitely exist.
