a post for all of us Early Decisions

"yea NOVA kids are chill

its like were somewhat between the stereotypical lazy californian and the frazzled new yorker"

Totally agreed Firewalker. I'll actually be in the DC area for this New Years with my NYU friends from Virginia, so I should be getting more of the NOVA experience.

OK this is a little late, but I got accepted to CAS yesterday (Wed Dec 14) and I live in MD. I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited!! It's the dreamiest of my dreamy dream schools!

yea youll definitely have fun in DC ABirch

check out the monuments and whatnot, if youre into politics take tours of the capitol, senate buildings, and supreme court

as for the clubs, if youre into music, try the 9:30 club
as for regular clubs try FUR or Dream

for NOVA+DC in general, it's EXTREMELY diverse, enjoy NOVA!

im in CAS!!!! woo hoo

still haven't heard..does this mean I shouldn't expect an acceptance letter?

Okay guys, I just called admissions, asked to speak with the guy from admissions who came to my school to talk about NYU. He was very friendly and told me right over the phone that I was accepted to Steinhardt, jazz performance. You guys should try doing the same.

Wow, what a relief. Good luck to everyone else.

i got accepted to CAS yesterday! and i'm from maryland too.

NEON..what if I forgot the guy's name lol :-X...and how exactly did you ask..

"Can I please speak to so and so" and then what?

and NEON where do you live?

I live in Northern Westchester, NY.

Ask your guidance counsler for the guy's name. My guy was named "Jeff Bates".

I just explained to him the situation, that I hadn't received it yet and I was told I'd find out by the 15th, and then he leaked it by accident, saying "well, your acceptance was sent"... and then he was like "woops, I guess I ruined it.... Congratulations, you've been accepted". It was totally unexpected. He said there must've been a problem in the mailing.

so you call admissions office and ask to speak to the guy? Or did you call him up personally? actually theres no point...ur guy slipped so you got lucky, but mine will just say what the admissions woman said to me 2 days ago "You should be receiving it shortly."

Thanks Firewalker. I've been to DC before but only did the touristy stuff with my family (ie White House, Supreme Court, etc). This time, I should see the real "scences" of DC. From what I hear, the GW area is great to hang out in.

The Georgetown area is nice as well! G-town has a lot of shopping and nice little cafes and other fun restaurants.

dear NoVA,

so many NoVa kids everywhere i apply... you NoVA kids really throw it off for the rest of the state, when it comes to geographic diversity! gahhh!

love, R-Va

haha that wasnt meant to be offensive...

btw, seeing so many tisch film acceptees... is the tisch film acceptance rate REALLY 28% (250-280 frosh) ... b/c if so... that would be really awesome... lol (i'm applying RD)

Seriously, nova kids ruin it for everyone!!! Try being a student in nova though!! If you don't have above a 3.5, your not worth anything and good luck trying to get into any college!! LOL...not that extreme, but there are soooo many smart kids in this area it becomes so hard to do anything that academically impresses anyone!

Parikhs, it's all about the way you present it. Find the guy's name-- you have met him/her before, so you have a special relationship with him/her that you don't have with some secratary there. Ask especially for him/her, and explain that you were told you'd receive a letter by December 15th, and now it's the 19th (you'll have to call Monday, they're probably not around during weekend) and you still haven't heard a thing. Tell them you need to know because you have to begin applying to other schools if you were not accepted. Be strong about it... they will ask for your last name and/or social security number.

It can't hurt. The decision's been made.

Good luck.

yep northern virginia is great!

love it here

So, it's settled, NYU is a fan of NOVA.

Oh yeah, I've heard great things about G-town as well. Definitely looking forward to a DC New Years.
