A question regarding rec letters and waitlists

So I got admitted to U of M but am not attending,
while my friend got waitlisted and really wish to attend UMich.

Until when should I send my recommendation letter? Is there a specific form?

I don’t think they want one from you… They don’t really need to know that your friend has a friend.

I’m asking because a friend got admitted to Cooper Union after submitting a rec letter.

I don’t believe peers sending letters have any effect on admissions.

^agreed

There is no way your friend is going to get in because umich no longer accepts people off of the waitlist.

The waitlist is done already? That was quick!

blackpen- what do you mean they no longer accept people off the waitlist?? did they come out with it and actually say that? or are you just assuming based on the way admissions looked this year?

Over the past few years, Umich accepted (almost) zero students off of their waitlist.
Some reasons for this is that admission has gotten more competitive and that has led to a larger number of students attending. This removed the need to accept anyone off of the waitlist because the quota for the number of people in a class was already met.
I just wish people would take my advice and move on to another school. I don’t think it’s very healthy to continuously think about this and stress over it.
