Well, in Ben's case, when his application was complete his status switched to "Candidate." I was thinking that "complete" under application was something of a code meaning that the appointment is being sent out (the thought being that they don't want to have something on the web site prior to the MOC calling the applicant). But, as you say, Ben had his LOA in hand. I do know that at almost exactly the same time he got the call from the MOC, his status changed to "complete" and his file had been complete at least a month prior.

Perhaps others can comment here; it is pretty confusing! Anyway, I don't feel very confident about this but thought I'd share the sequence with you. Snipper, I sure hope this works out for you. Everyone is pulling for you!!

Account just changed for the last time today :)

Your Status:
Candidate* (you have been deemed potentially competitive and have been sent a candidate kit)
Appointment Status:
Appointment Accepted

How do you access this status info? We have searched the AFA website and can not locate it. Please help. We must have missed something somewhere . Thanks!!

It was about actually one week from when i got my nomination in the mail to when it was posted on the website. I wounder how often it is updated?

Mine was listed as my congresman and tentative now it just says my congresmans name. I talked with my counselor today and she said nothing has been done on my application but hopefully they will get my college transcripts today or tomorrow.

Although i dont think any of that will matter.

I talked with DoDMERB and they said the reviewing doctors would not look over my case again, that it HAS to be waivered (non-rebuttable). Ive already sent my medical records over to the waiver authority and DoDMERB said i should find out this or next week. However, i am really sure my waiver will come back denied for things that were in my medical records. In fact i am almost gaurnteed that the waiver will be denied.

This is why its great its college CONDIENTIAL.
I have listed all over my medical records "Suicidal Ideation" and even though i was DQd for taking medication (anxiety) the moment they see that in my medical records its over. Indeed while i never ACTED on it (or really considered, it was just ideation in conversation with my counselor) and it was over 4 years ago, the fact that it is tied to my name and on my record is almost a one way ticket to waiver denial.

Even worse, since my medical will expire next year ill need a new medical. Sounds good right? Well no, they will re look at my file and see my previous DQ and most likely DQ me again next year.

I am not accepting defeat and will fight it as long as i can but just statistically and most likely it is over.

Snipe, I wish there was something I could say to take the sting out of being you at the moment. I admire your persistance as I'm sure most here do. No matter what happens, you just remember what I'd said to you a while back. It still stands. Will be waiting and watching with you. I haven't heard the "fat lady sing" yet. Hang tough.

MAybe i was jumping the gun? I dunno but i did get a chance to talk with the tech sgt in charge of medical waivers for the academy. I asked her about the possibility that i could get a waiver and she talked about the things they consider (she kept stressing no two cases are alike).

First, she said "since it is the military, well pass it on to several specialists" (i think she was being sarcastic about the "military" part) after they have their doctor look at it. They look at things like if it was an isolate event or on going, how long ago, how treatment well, were there any lapses, did the person completely recover, how are they now, how did a post counsling evaluation go etc...

Interestingly enough i think i may have passed all those. Indeed it was an isolated event 4 years ago, all my records show steady improvement to discharge, all my records clear me as a perfectly healthy human and post counsling evals show me completely healthy.

But that doesnt stop me till i see "Waiver Approved/Denied" on the website...

Id also like to add that Jamzmom has to be the coolest person in the world and that jamz has to be the luckiest kid to have such an amazing mom.

I asked because I didnt hear and was getting worried so I called. They claimed to have sent out all the letters long ago. They faxed me a copy of my rejection and it was dated December 8th. Something must be messed up.

Im assuming i got a rejection as well because my website was listed as Representative Hyde and Tentative (i assume tentative was obama cause durbin already rejected me) but since its now just rep i think they sent in their list of nominations, none of us being on it of course.

So yeah, i never heard from obama.

My waiver is going infront of a specials now.

Shouldn't Obama at least have TOLD us he rejected us?? Seriously... if three people never heard from him, something's up.

And snipper... this is a online pat on the back from me. I can't imagine how much this all must stink. You've dealt with so much already (from the limited knowledge I have); I'm totally crossing my fingers for you. Just keep fighting the good fight.
