Snipper, really, I just felt Jamz roll his eyes all the way from NY. :) You guys want me call Obama tomorrow?

I'd give him a call, that what I did and they faxed me my letter.

One of my friends is applying to Anappolis and hasnt heard from Obama. I think hes freaking out more than me (is that possible?)

He's actually coming to my college on tuesday... ill have to give him a peice of my mind, right before im dragged off by the Secret Service.

I am a candidate for the US Naval Academy (snipp talkin about me behind my back ahah jk) and I also have not heard from senator Obama. Ill called his office today and no one there would speak to me about it. I dont realy know what hes up to (besides playing basketball in Isreal haha).

Yeah i tried calling Obamas office and scott hook was away from the office.

Like i said when he comes to our college on tuesday ill have a word with him...

snipper,

You have an awful lot of people on cc pulling for you. Don't fret too much over Obama. You have your nomination from Rep. Hyde so that part of the process is just fine.

I have a feeling you've been very thorough throughout the DoDMERB part of admissions, but have all of your doctors submitted their reports? I wonder how that could make a difference for you.

I had my counselor and psyciatrist forward their records to DoDMERB (which was a nightmare in itself) and thats all i have. My doctors wouldnt have anything, except they authorized a referal for my insurance. The Tech sgt said thats all i really needed anyways.

Again, i just have to wait for the specialist to get back to them. She said its possible to call on thursday and find out, most likely the specialist will have reviewed my case and either recommend me for or against a waiver.

Waiting.

Here's hoping it works out!

Im done, waiver came back denied.

All over for me.

I'm so sorry snipper, that is really rough. Did you apply to any other academies? Because a friend of mine was disqualified from DoDMERB last year to go to USAFA, but got into USMMA because he got a waiver from them. Best of luck.

I am so sorry--you have worked so hard for this.

O man snipper, I'm sorry man. I'm sure you'll succeed with whatever you do, always keep your optomism.

snipper_cr, I've got nothing but respect for you. You've obviously been through the ringer on this but always come back to post and help others. Keep your chin up. You're going to go far, no matter where you land.

Oh, snipper, I'm so sorry. I know how disappointed you must be after working so hard for this. I've been checking this thread for your results.

I'm unfamiliar with the waiver process, but is there any kind of appeal? Or a next step that you can possibly take? If not, I truly wish you well and am confident that you will be successful in what you choose to do. You have an enthusiasm and commitment that is so real. And you've been so open about your situation and about helping other candidates. Best of everything to you!

Thank you all for your help, support, comfort and confidence in me. This place is unlike anywhere else. I know it might be a reason that i applied and got my medical DQ was to just meet you people (last year when i got medically DQd i joined to ask questions)...so if anything i got you guys out of it and am forever thankful.

Technically the waiver IS the appeal process. Because i am appealing a medical DQ. All i am told is that i will get a letter in the mail that will have a letter from the head medical examiner and the specialist who reviewed my file. This letter will explain WHY they denied the waiver. From that letter ill see what my plan is going to be.

If it says something that i dont think is right, i can send more information to help my case. They will review my file again and make another determination. However, more often than not they will sustain their original determination.

This letter will also have a major bearing on my entire future, especially with the military. If it comes back i need to wait longer i may try applying to the academy next year. However, if its a permanent DQ (for reasons listed in a previous post) than im really screwed with this military because there goes my ROTC dreams of becoming a pilot.

All in all there really is not much more i can do. Again, what ever the letter says will determin my last ditch effort but again, it would be last ditch only and not expected to do much.

Thank you all. I will still stay here and help other people out, no reason for me to go away. I did get really angry and throw my entire folder of academy stuff across the room, yelling many profanities. I tore up any letter that started with "Congradulations", my precandidate kit and nomination letter, but that was out of anger. Its not like they really mean anything now.

Again thank you all for evertyhing and your help.

Be careful not to rip up something you might regret...

Other than my nomination letter, that was it. I was just ready to give up.

Its finally been updated on the DoDMERB website D260.40 - Waiver Denied - USAFA and there is a correspondence Correspondence - Multi-Service Disqualification, Waiver Denied: 01/31/2006 which means hopefully i will be getting a letter explaining the waiver denial, although like i said earlier, i was expecting this and figured it was going to happen.

::defeated sigh::

snipper... dont give up too quickly a friend of my daughters was denied a medical waiver as well but he is now doing very well on a navy rotc scholarship at a college in the south there is still hope

That is actually one of my questions i have when i talked with DoDMERB next. I was under the impression that this waiver denial covered ALL air force officer training paths (Academy, ROTC, OTS and OCT). I plan to get my associates in spring 2007 (about 1 more year) and go to U of I or SIU in the fall.

I would love to do ROTC and since i might still have a chance, im going full force with that. So it looks like my air force dreams are not ENTIRELY ruined by this medical waiver denial.

"Hope, the quinticential human dilusion" - Matrix Reloaded.

Sorry to keep beating this extremely long thread to death but i still dont think its proper to start a new one.

Anyways, i got my letter from DoDMERB today explaining why my medical was DQd. From the information they supplied, it looks like they made a mistake in reading my medical records.

Indeed, i had an appointment with my Doctor in April 2005 (less than a year ago) but i am not sure they read the entire entry. The only reason i met with her was to discuss options for my medical DQ. I was disqualified in March, and got my appointment iwth her to talk about it in April. As a result, she wrote me a steller letter. However it was too late into the year to get a waiver.

So i tried again this year. They said i had "professional treatment in april 2005" which is within 12 months of them getting my waiver request. However as i said, it was ONLY to discuss questions about the academy (as it is clearly stated in the notes).

I guess i actually have a chance to retry this.
