Why do YOU respond to threads like Favorite Soda or How Financially Stable Are You? I thought of this as I was writing a response to the latter thread. I know that unless I make a thread myself asking for legitimate help or advice, what I write is useless (for the most part). I guess CC takes a load off my mind and makes me feel sort of comfortable as a person and student (and it is pretty funny to watch the endless My Chances threads pour in during early September), but it's interesting, and a little strange, that so many people are here on this forum just chatting about any and everything and trying to pass the time. Oh look! It's near midnight...time flies when you have nothing else better to do than write a pointless thread. This would be a great example of one of those "You know you're a CCer when..." threads. Oh well...

Many people check the forum religiously and practically live here.

...and feel the need to know our personal preferences. Family right? o_O

That's me RR119. =)

Which leads me to my latest thread...

"Do you consider CCer's "friends"?"

i guess CC is like a dating service, except without the dating. you read a person's posts and get an idea of their personality, life struggles, background, and whatnot. you then develop a mental picture of what this person may look like. you may never see them, but you know that you both shared in the excitement, joy, and pain of the college admissions process........together. that's what friendship truly means!!!

^ I know. There are people who I don't like because of what they post. I am sure people feel the same about me. But, sometimes, my online personality does not match my real one. For instance, I never lie on this site, because that would be pointless, but I am generally "meaner" by being more blunt with people.

I love this place, and I kind of check it religiously since I have to have some social life when on Florida Virtual School.

Its basically all small talk. But these little inquiries often lead to greater and more interesting discussions, like how the favorites soda thread turned into Pop vs. Soda and the geographical differences. I wouldn't necessarily call the threads pointless. It's pretty typical forum behavior, no matter what topic.

Ouch, I got pwned for making the soda topic.

It really wasn't that pointless for me, at least not any more than anything else I would've been doing (playing WoW and such for 7 hours).

<--------- e.g.

^haha, I actually haven’t seen you posting like you used to for a while now:P

I still see it

^^ Would this be an example of that?
