AB DUKE Finalist!

Does anyone know when 2010 AB Duke finalists are notified? Or has anyone already about finalist standing?

did you have to submit the request to be considered?

hiltzation: One would assume this year’s finalists would be notified around the same time last year’s were (i.e. first week of March).

aznjunior: It’s unlikely that one would have to, but it certainly can’t hurt.

Has anyone heard from Robertson?

Congrats to the semifinalists :)

@eatsalot do semifinalists know who they are yet? I was under the impression they would be notified a few weeks from now

^^^I was wondering the same thing!
Eatsalot, do you know if and when likely letters are coming out this year as well. I read last year’s post, but found it confusing. It sounds like letters went out in mid March.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

^^Are you referring to the Robertson? The Robertson semifinalists are usually announced late February… so anytime soon haha.

Likely letters get sent to 200-300 students (so basically, it’d be presumptuous to expect one lol). They usually get sent out in early March.

Eatsalot: I was not referring to the Roberston, but rather the AB Duke and other scholarships and the likely letters. My apologies, I probably should have asked the likely letter question on the thread for that. Do you know when candidates will hear about the Non-Robertson scholarships?

My D has received 2 other likely letters already, so she is hopeful that one may come from Duke, but will happy to be accepted in late March too. We know all schools look for different things…

So basically if you were deferred ED can you expect that you won’t even be considered for scholarships?

If I don’t get the email for being an AB finalist I may just cry. I highly doubt I’ll be able to go to Duke unless I get it, but, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I have almost no chance of getting it…

Why wouldn’t you be able to go? Finances? Duke is pretty good about financial aid and the FinAid office is always willing to try and help.

Unfortunately, no. Merit scholarships go to the best of the pool, and if you were deferred, you most likely aren’t up there.

Damn it. That sorta sucks…

Do you guys know what exactly you get for being an AB Duke Scholar? Like…definitive amount?

I received an email from Duke today. I was accepted to Duke 2014 and nominated for consideration for an Angier B. Duke Memorial Scholarship!

Me too, Goodluck  I hope to see you in March!

I’m a semifinalist too! How many people are asked to come on campus for interviews? I can’t believe this, I definitely thought I was underqualified

75 semfinalist. about 45 finalists. about 10-15 winners.

Since when does AB Duke have semifinalists?

I think what goodluck1 means by ‘semifinalist’ is the people who received the letter.
