I got deferred from Early Action. My stats are pretty average/mediocre for UGA:
28 ACT. 10 Honors Classes between 9th and 10th grade. I took 7 IB classes last year, and am taking 8 IB/AP classes this year.

I've struggled to keep up with all this work, and this is only high school! I think UGA could be a good match for me, but I want to be very careful not to go to a school where I'll be in over my head. Does anyone know how difficult the curriculum is at UGA (specifically freshman/sophomore level classes)?

Generally the freshman/sophomore classes are big weed-out classes. The sciences are pretty tough, but they prepare you well for graduate school or med school. UGA courses may be a little harder than the average school but that’s because we’re no average school! haha

Don’t worry. Everyone grows and develops over time in college. There are plenty of student organizations and study groups at UGA. As a matter of fact, I lead one of them!

Take things slow, see if you get accepted and be sure to balance yourself.

Know your limits and take the time to study. Work then play. Learn to prioritize and time manage and you’ll be fine. UGA can be as easy or hard as you want it to be. Trust in the admissions process - if you get in, you can make it. They wouldn’t waste a valuable spot on someone they think won’t make it.

jenmarie and king summed it up perfectly, and this is true at every school. Even if you end up not getting into UGA, keep in mind that balance is what it’s all about. As a rule of thumb, STEM majors are usually more difficult than non-STEM majors. That’s true just about everywhere. So if you know you want a career in STEM, realize that you’ll have to grow up a little sooner than some of your friends.

Moreover, I would say that’s probably more due to students being challenged in high school than a comparison of classes. Things might seem more difficult in retrospect. College is a whole different ball game.

I agree with most of what everyone else has said. If you can get into a school, you can proably make it. Admissions exists for a reason. Universities LOSE when students drop out or transfer due to grades.
