Has anyone heard about the academic scholars program?

I am wondering the same thing. Does this come with our acceptances, or does it come later??

An invitation to join Academic Scholars Program was received via US Mail in central Ohio on December 26 along with $2000 annual scholarship offer. It did not come in the same mailing as the initial merit aid offer.

That is reassuring. I received the first merit aid offer today ($9,000 per year), but I am further from the University than you would be (southeastern Ohio) so hopefully I hear something soon. I am curious, when did you receive your other merit aid offer?

D received two letters today. One about the amount of her merit scholarship. The other congratulating her on Academic scholars. We are in Indiana.

Haven’t received the merit award letter yet. The bottom of the Academic Scholars letter said to expect it in the next few days.

For those of you receiving letters welcoming you or your child into the Academic Scholars program, did your online notification or initial acceptance letter mention anything about it. Also, what are your stats?

There is no online Academic Scholars invite; it comes in the mail. They were mailed last week, many students already received them but there seems to be a week window of when MU mailings make it to homes. If you didn’t specify an eligible major or area of interest on the Common App, being part of Academic Scholars won’t be an option. See here for the list: http://www.miamioh.edu/academics/uasp/

Honors invites were included in the email message when ED and EA students were notified they were accepted. If you didn’t get the extra paragraph in your email, an Honors invite won’t be coming in the mail.

There are benefits to both programs, and some students are selected to be in both. Preferential course scheduling is a huge perk to Honors; obviously the extra $2000 a year on top of Miami’s merit scholarship offer is a plus to Scholars.
