Academic Scholarships

Hey, I was wondering how common non-need based scholarships are, and some of the different qualifications for them. Have you heard of students getting a full-ride (or a big %)? Does it effect your chances if you are from out of state???

Check out the scholarship on the financial aid website. It lists all of the full-ride ones and the number that are given out. Since most of them were given out awhile ago, I'm pretty sure that they are all gone. The really good ones gave preference based on race and location. Since you are OOS, if you come from an underrepresented state, like Hawaii, your chances of a nice scholarship go up tremendously.

"The really good ones gave preference based on race"

but not any more eps.

It's not 100% based on state/race representation...a couple of my friends and I got nice merit packages to UMich, even though most of us are white and live in OH (not underrepresented at Mich, though we get a ribbing from all the Buckeye fans in our school!!!) They seem to be pretty generous with aid in general, financial or merit-based, so just go for it!!!
