Academy personal life

cool, thanks. if i get it, i would get it on my back, n beings how it is an airforce tattoo i think they would be alright with it. guess i have to worry bout gettin in first :)

How are female cadets viewed at the Academy? Are they seen as a piece of meat because the guy/girl ratio is so drastic, or are they seen as completely butch? I know that's a broad question, but I've been wondering for a while...

You are what you allow yourself to be. The 4-5/1 ratio will complicate all your relationships at USAFA. I know Hornet doesn't date blue, but after six months the opportunity to have the undivided attention of someone of the opposite sex is important. You will be judged by your achievements and your actions.

lmao, thanks ds. I also have many female friends here, so I'm not starved of female attention (in a general way). Not to say my fellow males on the site are.

It is true, its how you present yourself. You can look like the lazy female who gets away with everything by seeming to flirt with uppers, the butch female, the whiny/crying one. OR, you can be the hooah one that keeps up with the game and does what's needed. Personally, we have a butch female, 2 flirty ones, and 2 hooah ones in my squad (4 digs). If you do your job, and don't let things like uniform and decorum go to crap, then you won't have to worry at all. Just remember that there are a minority of guys that think females should be held to the same standards as males physically and that they also may not be fit for service at all.

i just found out yesterday that the guy to girl ratio at the university i attend is 4-1. wow. i knew it was bad, but its pretty sad when the ratio of your college is the same as a military academy. not to mention uwp is mainly an engineering school, no offense to the female engineers out there. lets just say i dont have a hard time focusing on the lecture in any of my classes. :P

Sipes,

Eau Claire and La Crosse are the nursing schools! You should see how many more women there are at those two! My wife came from UW-Eau Claire. A nice catch, I might add.

i dont know about eau claire, never been there, but i have visited friends in lacrosse and i have to agree with you. fun place with a much better view;)

If you've ever been to ERAU you'd think that's a military academy...

Oh wait, totally forgot that it cost $150,000+...

What was I thinkin'...

God after watching that "Falcon Love Song" I sure am glad that my girlfriend wants me to go to the Air Force Academy

eDodo

http://www.edodo.org

Not the place for this.

edodo is definitely an informed (also cynical and satyrical) view on the academy

Thought it was another advertising thing.

My bad.

I would highly suggest future cadets or prospectives not to view edodo until they have been here awhile.

Agreed.

The jokes are VERY cynical and some don't make sense unless you're here.

What are the rules with regard to watching USAFA IC sporting events? Only on weekends? Or are concessions made to fill the venues?

As long as it does not interfere with other duties, cadets are able to attend. Home football games are mandatory.

I have gone to several basketball games this semester, and I would highly encourage others to go to them...they are a lot of fun and can really help relieve stress sometimes. Plus, our team is usually pretty dang good. :)

Thanks! What about off campus? Any such thing as a mid-week road trip? Or is that against the rules?

You won't ever have the time during the week to do something like that...you will always have class and other duties. But, you could take a weekend or (even better) a 3-day weekend to go on a road trip, provided you had enough passes, were not on probation/restriction and you could borrow a car from a junior or senior. One of my best friends and I borrowed a car and used a pass to drive to a Pike's Peak trail head back last semester.
