Accepted from the Waitlist

Has anyone been accepted this year from the waitlist? If so, into which school?

in the past years, Umich has never used the waitlist. but i'm withdrawing my deposit so maybe that will help a miniscule little bit!

Actually, 3 people, including myself, were recently accepted off the waitlisted.

"i'm withdrawing my deposit so maybe that will help a miniscule little bit!"

Dual-depositing... I hope you get in trouble for that.

He never said he double deposited. He could have gotten off of a waitlist somewhere else.

accepted today from the waitlist. LSA.... i applied for the preferred admit business thing... idk if i got that

For statistical purposes, are you in state or out of state?

I'm out of state.. Wisconsin... help me decide.. UCLA or Michigan?

Oooh, that's a tough one. Depends on what you want to study mostly.

Yet another out of stater accepted from the waitlist...

^me too (10 char)

<<<out of stater accepted FL!!!!

Add 1 more to the list, out of state, off the waitlist.

OOS students == Cash Cows

OOS do bring more cash (although this is partially offset by the new state funding formula.... the U gets less money for nonresidents than it does residents).

However, it's not the case that they are now being accepted off the WL because they're seen as some hot new source of funding. The goals for residents and nonresidents were set some time ago.

The reason few residents have been here to report their WL offers thus far is simple: the resident goal is closer to being met by the students already admitted.

Hee hee, call Jennifer Granholm...she likes a good fight and gets excited when Michiganders are treated unfairly, especially by state funded institutions.

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Accepted off the waitlist!!!!!!!!!!! International, living in Windsor, Canada (40 min away from UMich)

GO BLUE BABY

I don't want to get anywhere near Granholm's mole.

UofM usually never takes anyone off their waitlist and this year they are taking some off. I thought this years admission was supposed to be the toughest ever. So why are they taking some people off the list this year?

When you accept the best, I guess you lose a lot to peer institutions like the Ivies.
