Accepted, so relax?

Ok guys this message is kind of a general question i've really been meaning to ask.

If you're accepted by penn state and you're in and all that stuff, then do the grades that you get in your last semester really matter that much? If an accepted student messes his last semester's gpa up is he in trouble? ... For argument's sake lets say a student CGPA dropped from a 3.04 to 2.84 ... and his gpa in the last semester is like 1.75 ... Is it all "OK"??

Thanks guys do reply and let me know.

Um no, I would say it’s probably not okay. I don’t know about Penn State specifically, but a lot of colleges will rescind your admission if your grades drop a lot (unless you have a good reason for them dropping…like being sick for a month or something). A 1.75 GPA in the last semester is extremely low. You can’t just decide to relax and not do your work once you have decided where you are going to college. High school isn’t over then…it’s over when you finish your finals (and pass…) and get your diploma. THEN you can relax.

Penn State doesn’t ask for your final transcript, so they’re not seeing those final grades. As long as you graduate, you’re ok.

mamdot- are you already accepted? is that a high school GPA or a college GPA? most schools request your final transcript- has that been sent?

That doesn’t seem good. But I got a 2.95 my second semester senior year: All Bs and one C+, so it’s not like I failed a class miserably. I would try and get at least a 3 to be on the safe side; although, i’ve never heard of Penn State rescinding applicants.

The good news, if (as cagb1016 said) Penn State doesn’t request a final transcript, you should be ok. They have to deal with roughly 5,000 freshman, so recinding admission is not something the seem to really pay attention to.

The bad news, you’re about to go to college, where you have to make decisions for yourself. I don’t think you are going to have an easy time first semester when no one is around to ride you about your grades, when you let your GPA drop that much last semester in HS, when you are still living at home.

I wouldn’t say relax, but rather…prepare for college…

What year are you? I had to send in my final transcripts ( I remember because it was a pain in the ass because the admin people at my High School are idiots).

It does matter…Penn State (and other colleges) can easily take away your acceptance if they see that you slacked off a lot. But for the most part as long as you don’t fail out or drop really bad you’ll be fine

My daughter graduated from PSU last year and my son will be a senior. Neither of them had to send their final grades. I am sure that PSU did not request them directly, because their high school will not send them without a signed form and fee for each request. My niece will be a junior and I’m pretty sure she didn’t need to send final grades either. What year are you?

Yeah you don’t have to spend in your final transcript for Penn state but I know personally my school automatically sends it.
