I was accepted for the Summer B term at UF, and I want to know exactly what this means. I more likely than not will go to UF whether or not I start Summer or Fall but I intend to appeal for personal reasons. What I want to know is if I start Summer B, does that mean than I do Summer B > Fall and no Spring? Or also Spring. Also, would I have to take the Summer term every year, or is it just for my Freshman? At first I was mad about being accepted Summer but I researched it a little and it sounds good, and I just wanted to clear a couple things up.
First, it’s only a matter of starting this one summer early. Fall and Spring are normal, and any following summer is totally up to your discretion. (you do need 9 total summer credits ‘at some point’ in your college career. Some of those can be taken online though) There are advantages to starting Summer B, such as easing into the college life, making friends when it’s easier to do so, getting to know the campus procedures etc. It is NOT a bad thing! However if you have a reason why you’d rather start in the fall (job or something?), then you can appeal and it may be granted.
My son had a friend who did that – he had a job for the summer, and they allowed him to start in the fall.
Good luck!
