Accepted thread!

Son is still waiting to hear from Ithaca. He auditioned for the school of music last weekend. All of that info must go through 2 sets of people before even making it to the admissions department. I’m thinking he won’t hear for a couple of weeks.

I didn’t get into the MLK program :frowning: I’m surprised actually. Oh well

We got the letter today. My son did not get the MLK scholarship. We were hoping it would happen. On the same day he came back from UMass accepted student’s day with excitement. That is a good sign. It will all work out in the end.

Anghad — so is Ithaca definitely out?

My son got his acceptance letter today and received $15K Patrick Conway Scholarship plus an additional $3K. We are out of state, so not sure if that will have much of an impaction on the cost. He really wants to go there. Actually, his top 3 schools are sort of neck and neck (School A has a better music community and he’s being considered for a scholars program, School B has the better school of music and trumpet faculty, and School C has the composition faculty he likes most).

Yes MC wald. We cannot afford the tuition even with the Flora Brown scholarship and $5k loan.

Anghad,

I hear that! I wish there wasn’t so much time between acceptance and finding out about the other scholarships.

Is anyone’s account down?

My Son received his Ithaca Financial Aid package yesterday. He received a pretty generous Ithaca Opportunity Grant in addition to his Presidential Scholarship and was also offered a Work Study. His other back up was Oneonta, but with such a good package from Ithaca, the cost is close. Ithaca is a little more, but not by too much. He was very excited, so I’m pretty sure that’s where he will be going.

I got 0 need based aid. All I got was the 18k merit -.-

@KDavis95 - will you be able to attend with just the merit scholarship?
I got the president’s merit too, but I’m going to need alot more to go with it. I’m so worried because I want to go to Ithaca so bad. I also applied for the Leadership scholarship so I have to wait for the decision on that before they will release my FA package.

I can’t afford it with just that :frowning: it really sucks. But Ithaca was only a safety for me so I’m not too sad about it…

KDavs – What college will you be attending next year?

Curious what other schools any of you applied to. My son applied and was accepted to Binghamton, and UMD – just to name a few.

Waiting for that financial aid package in order to figure out where he’ll go.

Good luck to all.

MCwald - Would UMD be the University of Maryland? My son was also accepted there and Ithaca. He has not decided which he will attend. He got a generous merit aid offer, but will also need need-based aid (which I doubt he’ll get) to be able to attend without borrowing money. He would like to graduate with as little debt as possible.

I’m not sure yet. I got into 5 CUNYs, Binghamton and Ithaca. I also applied to Arcadia, Brown, Barnard (deferred), Colgate (rejected), Duke, Fordham, George Washington U, Northeastern, Trinity, U of Chicago, Princeton, and Dartmouth.

Has anyone heard back from the leadership scholarship yet? I am most likely attending, but getting that would make me sure.

Also, I was invited to apply to the honors program. Is it true that some people were automatically accepted?

RachelPA - no, nobody is automatically accepted into honors. If you think that the program is something that you might be interested in, I would suggest that you apply as soon as possible. They only accept 100 people so the sooner you send it in, the better for you.

MomTeacherNurse – yes UMD is University of Maryland. RachelPA, I am fairly certain that some of the applicants were automatic acceptances to the Ithaca honors program. (My son was not, so he filled out the application and was just accepted a few days ago). But, check on the Ithaca website and see what it says about automatic admittance to honors.

My son is waiting to hear about the Leadership Scholarship. I am pretty certain that they are sending out letters at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. They had a record number of applicants this year though – something like 150 more than usual – which brings the grand total of students who applied to something like 600 or so and the website says that they select “up to 60 applicants”. So those odds aren’t great.

It does sound like a great program though – so we all wait. And wait!

Really?? I haven’t heard that. And, I had no idea that there were that many applicants. Yep, my chances are slim but I’m still hoping.

Did anyone hear about the Leadership Scholarship yet? I am assuming not yet, but post if you do.
