Hi,
I'm writing to ask you guys, if you know, whether or not I stand to have my admission offer to UCLA rescinded after dropping a course, this spring. Here are the details:
-I was admitted as a Chemistry major
-I was taking Organic Chem II (second semester), and Quantitative Analysis (a type of chem class) this semester.
-I dropped Quantitative Analysis, and will receive a W.
-Quantitative Analysis is not a required lower division prerequisite for my major, and it has no equivalent at UCLA.
-Further, there is no course at UCLA that deals strictly with quantitative analytical techniques.
-I have completed more than 60 UC transferable units
-I have fulfilled all areas of the IGETC and UC subject requirements
-I had to drop this course because I've been helping my girlfriend emotionally/financially/academically after the death (suicide) of her brother in January.

I wrote letters to both the UARS @ UCLA and the Chem dept. @ UCLA, explaining my situation. I've searched these forums for a conclusive answer, but haven't found one. I would hope that someone knows something about the admissions process for transfer students and can say, with some certainty, whether I stand to have my admission rescinded, or not. I appreciate your help, and thank you for your time. All the best,
Tim

If it is not a major prereq, igetc req, or your 60th unit, then it doesn’t matter!!! Omg why are there so many ****ing threads saying the same thing!!!

To CApathy… With “apathy” in your name, I’m surprised that you are so emotional. You doing okay? Anything on your mind? Just don’t let them put you on xanax. Just say no, bro

but i have a few more questions concerning this matter…lets say if someone were to drop a course…that wasn’t a major prereq, igetc req or 60th unit.

what would that person have to say on the form? what reason does that person have to give?
does that person have to give them an excuse at all?
this is the form i am talking about, provided by the ever so prudent Eshug1

ha sorry i just came on hereee…um make up some bull crap…due to the number of hours you have had to spend working, taking care of a family member. Wanting to focus more on your major oriented classes was the cause for you dropping your econ.

Transfer students who have met the application and University Statement of Intent to Register deadlines will have offers and contracts available on line on June 3, 2010.
