ACK I forgot to report a grade

Okay so I just got accepted into UCI under biological sciences with like a 3.3 gpa (maybe higher) and 1840 sat and I didn't report a D I got my first semester of Junior year in AP Art History. Should I contact UCI admissions if I can't get my counselor to change it or drop it? Should I just go on with it send in a SIR and official transcript? Will I have to repeat the course or something? My school counselor told me (when I recieved this grade) that it could just count as an elective and I wouldn't have to repeat it. It was an a-g course but only 1 year was required and I'm fulfilling that requirement this year with another course.

The only reason I only got a D was because I was overwhelmed by other classes and didn't realize my capabilities at the time and was too stupid to drop it before it was too late.

"isn't it funny you forgot to report a D on the most important year of HS." This is what I would say if I was the admin looking at your note about forgeting to report a D. I personally understand your circumstance as I forgot to put stuff in my apps too, but nothing like leaving out a major bad grade on an important year of HS.

Personally, I think its not looking good for you. Tell them ASAP, like tomorrow. There is no way they are going to accept you if you send your transcript in with an extra D. You are just going to hope that they will not rescind your application because of this.

Best of luck!

This was what I expected. And also just wondering, will they see our senior year fall semester too? (This would actually be a plus. took 7 courses 6 of them AP's with 5 A's and 2 B's)

I completely agree with Cali Trumpet. There are tons of kids waiting to hear from Irvine and it is not fair that someone happens to "not report a D". That is the basic ABC's of UC app process. Even kids who have got a D in 1st sem senior yr have reported it. Please report it and hope for the best.

They base their admission decisions on self reported GPA. So there will be a huge discrepency in your UCGPA if a D is taken into consideration(if it is a a-g course and you have not repeated it in summer-to make up the D-in which case they would have taken the repeated course grade(provided u got a c or better).

Bottom line--you have some explaining to do to them and pl do it ASAP

Yes, if you did not forget to report a D, you could do a an appeal and mention your very good senior year grades. I am thinking that if they revoke your acceptance, they will not care about your senior year grades.

Alrighty, thanks for the help.

Yikes yea, I just calculated it would lower my 3.4 to a 3.2...

Oopzese can you post the major you applied under? I have practically the same stats as you, not sure about ECs though because I have really good ECs. Anyways, please post, Thanks in advance.

^^^

you can not appeal without a good reason. Uci says having good grades as a senior is not one of them.

Oh... well I didn't get rejected yet... haha. I'll try and appeal with something else if I do.

Damn...
And I though I had problems for not reporting my PE and TA classes. Turns out that I really didn't need to report it anyways.

Good luck. -_-
You're going to need it.
