ACT and SAT 2 combination

hey, im a junior. i need corroboration on whether submitting an ACT score in addition to a SAT 1 score is substantial ( as in, no need to take SAT 2's). Myth or Truth?

I'm looking at the ivies, northwestern, duke. etc (incase that makes a difference).

Best advice is to check the schools web sites for their ACT/SAT requirements - some schools will take the ACT for SATI and II - tho some schools really do prefer the SAT's - especially in the case of the Ivy's I believe.

There are really few schools that require or prefer the SAT I these days. Wake Forest, Harvey Mudd, and Randolph Macon are the only ones that people have been able to identify in the many discussions on this topic I've had.

People certainly get into the Ivies with the ACT (my daughter is one example). There are frequent threads on this subject on the ACT board and the SAT/ACT one. The whole certain schools prefer certain tests is largely a historical artifact -- it used to be true so people keep saying it and acting that way despite what the schools themselves say. It really is to your advantage to take sample tests of both and see if you do better on one or the other. http://www.math.com/students/kaplan/satoract.html

Some schools accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT I and II; others only allow the ACT to substitute for the SAT I. The Ivies vary. Yale, Penn, and Brown are in the former category; Harvard and Princeton are in the latter. I don't know about the rest.

Best thing to do is look at the web sites of the schools you are interested in.
