ACT April 4 ---- main discussion

and omfg our proctor started like 1 hour late cuz there was one person missing..i ate breakfast at like 6 and didnt eat for like 7 freaking hours

Hey hey hey,
Listen, don't freak out. You're lucky it's only the writing section. Many colleges superscore anyway, so they'll take your best Writing score from a different day. Why can't you take it again? There's another one in June this year, and you always have September, October (?), November of next year. It'll be okay. :/

you have no idea how they will grade it, don't panic until you actually see a bad grade in front of you. I actually thought about putting something in mine about teachers using educational shows in their classes if they thought it was so valuable (ended up running out of time) so I bet you aren't the only one who went in that direction.

and i put orange on that english question too...it seemed consistent w/ the color descriptions.

Ok, is it possible to get at least a 29 if you got around 10 wrong on each section? Honestly, the only section i finished was English. For the rest, i finish almost up to the last column, and then I just filled them all in w/ (b) and (g). On the reading...i worked backwards since the natural science one was easiest for me, but i didn't get to the prose section, and just guessed.

was the one that said it moved pencils farther...what was ans?

smt1192, i thought the roman numeral science question with "radiation, convection, and conduction" was convection. There were no electrons moving so i didnt think it was conduction. Radiation just seemed like it was totally irrelevant in this experiment. i also remembered that i have a "convection" oven in my kitchen. So i assumed convection meant heating up or heat transfer.

dude sry, the answer was indeed 2 sq rt 3.

the rods were insulators no? im sure it said that. if thats the case then conduction shouldn't work.

Yes they were insulators. I vaguely remembered the term conduction from Chemistry but I just associated that with electricity for some reason (while taking the test). So I put convection because I just remembered my oven has got the convection setting which like..moves the heat around...IDK lol.

for the reading I put orange...the earlier "figurative language" dealt with fruit like melons and something else, so I thought they wanted us to pick up on that....

woo hoo, first post!

Was one of the answers something like you needed to add on the weight of the boards and pencils, or something like that?

Galib2011, do u remember what the question was asking?

it was askign about what would happen if they moved the pencils farther apart

Ya i said add the weight of the boards and pencils but some people said subtract. I just don't see how subtract makes any sense

the board and pencils add weight that you're not supposed to be calculating, so you have to subtract them to zero the scales.

what is the answer to the conduction question??

Twaan, go back and look. It was discussed for 5 pages -- conduction only.

what was the answer to the volume of the cylinder? I think I put like 150 maybe

I remember I put 30pi....idk if it's right.

^ I think it was 180 pi. (6 radius^2pi5 height.)
