ACT...Oct 23rd Official Thread

Math: I think it was asking for the height of the tower and you were given the shadow length. Maybe it was the other way around though. Either way it was undeterminable.

Reading: The cause of 'death' was wind.

I don't remember the science one very clearly, but I believe in table one the phosphorous content of pine needles was zero and therefore it absorbed none. I believe the soil actually absorbed the phos.

Yes, the phosphorous content of the pine needles was zero, so i'm pretty sure it had to be just "soil."

sighhh so anyone remember the LETTER answers to #38 and 39 on reading?
annnd how about that science? hehe a -6-7 would be around?? Thanks!

I'm still looking for the curve info.

-6 or 7 on the science is gonna be a 27-28 i think

Here's a little helpful info:

do colleges see your subscores like math, science, reading, and english scores?

Anyone up for predicting your scores?

I think I got :

36 English
28 Math
34 Reading
25 Science

Here is some great info:

http://www.sparknotes.com/testprep/books/act/chapter1section4.html

There is a scale!

For the alice question I think I said she became more "comprehendible".

Dang it!!!! I didn't put indeterminable.. ah!! Hopefully that was the only math error I made.

I'm going for a 35...

Last time I got a 33 but didn't get one second of sleep the night before the test because I was addicted to online poker at the time...

I think "comprehendible" is correct

I put that also, Jaina.

Also, if I take the december 11th ACT, and my college apps are due Jan 1st, do i have to specify colleges on the day of the test? Or can i wait to see what i got and then send it?

What was the one about the width of the trees? I put that the width stayed the same up until 200m or something like that.

Moo, it would be best if you contacted the colleges or sent them a note and let them know you were taking the ACT again.

I think you have to specify ahead of time

My predictions:
English:34
Math:32
Reading:32
Science:36

well, it is until I everyone mentions all of the other ones I got wrong :)

I put the width decreased drastically for that one.

In the paragraph it didn't emphasize a large change in size but it did say the size was about half at 200 feet up.

80% sure that was the correct answer.

K, thanks. I was originally shooting for a 34, based on the practice tests I took, but after making stupid mistakes and going too slow, I'm hoping for a 30 lol...

no, the width one wasn't constant until 200m... it said in the reading something about how it base is 40 something meters and it gets smaller
