Does anyone know when UW Madison starts sending out admission decisions? I believe it's rolling admissions, so if I applied back in September can I be expecting a response within the next few weeks? Thanks

You will hear by the end of January; in other years, some people in the first notification period started getting a decision (admit/deny/postponed decision) as early as late November.

OP’s stats:

*4.0 UW GPA with a fairly rigorous course-load,
Around 250 volunteer hours,
32 ACT,
and decent EC’s including Cross Country captain and NHS member.
Unfortunately my parents are in the income bracket in which they will not support me very much, but we will also receive zero need-based aid. So I need to find a college that will get me a good bit of merit aid. (the better the school, the happier I’ll be) I really do believe that I will fit in to wherever I go, so i’m open to any options. I would love to hear some ideas of schools that I should research that will offer a decent amount of merit aid. *

Are you a Wisconsin resident?

You cannot count on merit aid from UW-Madison.

You may like to try UW-Madison’s net price calculator:

I will not need aid at Wisconsin, thank you though.

The 1st sign of acceptances last year was 10/30/13.

Also, if you’ll notice the 2015 transfer thread a few below this one, someone this round has already been accepted (although she was especially qualified). So decisions are happening…

My DS completed his app in early Sept. Once completed, the status changed to “Your application will be reviewed by one of our admission counselors as a part of our first notification period…” and has not changed since. Will this status change when a counselor is assigned to the application?

Yes. It will change to read “Your application is being reviewed by one of our admission counselors. During the…[etc]” I wouldn’t be too antsy though, as it took quite some time for my status to reach this and has been this for several months.

The short answer is, your DS will receive their decision by the decision deadline.

Accepted to UW Madison tonight!!! Happy Halloween treat!!!

I’m in too! Woo Hoo!

Go Badgers! Congrats to you too, @LeeannC !

Congrats!!! Can I ask if you both are in state or out of state? :)

In state

I also got in yesterday, yeye

Minnesota so reciprocity kid. I was worried because I only had a 27 ACT but good GPA with lots of APs, several leadership EC’s and a lot of alums in family including mom, dad, and brother. I’m guessing that helped but not sure.

Does anyone know if they released anymore decisions Friday night? No activity on this site - have they really started admitting students yet?

Just received my decision, and I was admitted! It’s a good day!

Congrats! Looks like another big wave today. S was just admitted(applied on the priority deadline date, or maybe an hour after) and says a bunch of kids he knows are posting about their acceptances.

Received mine too… admitted…Great news!!!
