ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

My daughter submitted in July. No answer yet.
Someone on here submitted 5 days ago and already has a response. You never know.

I don’t think you can predict or estimate when you will get any response. A lot depends on your Admissions Rep, how many apps they have to process, when your file is complete and many other factors that are unknown to us.

And while, because of all those other factors, you cannot read too much into any “delay”, the students that are more borderline are going to not hear as quickly. They may require full review as opposed to just the one admissions officer and the head of admissions. As I mentioned above, some students just fall squarely into Tulane’s sweet spot, which is just below Ivy level stats.

Just applied today, can’t wait to find out if I get accepted.

My daughter just received an acceptance letter and a Distinguished Scholar Award today.

Does anyone know when higher numbers of the EA notifications will go out?

Congrats to everyone who’s already been accepted!

As I stress out and wait over here, one of the things I’ve looked at is the 2019 stat/merit award chart. So far there’s only one merit aid offer with stats posted, but I’m going to start keeping track of UW GPA and scores here so offers don’t get buried.
@ayfriday , if you happen to know your daughter’s stats, could you please add them?

Hi everyone,
I applied EA on September 5th and am still awaiting a decision. I am definitely a borderline applicant and expect to be deferred. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and an 1860 SAT. I got a 5 on my AP Lang exam and a 3 on APUSH. I’ve taken 7 honors and AP courses and had a great gpa my junior year (3.83). I have strong extracurriculars and leadership positions. I visited Tulane and showed a lot of interest through emails to my admissions rep. I realize my stats are on the lower end for Tulane, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed. I’d love to hear some feedback from you all. Good luck everyone!

I think you have a very realistic view of things, @aeh2016. You might not hear until close to the December 15 notification date, and then it is a toss-up as to deferred or accepted. I am sure we all hope for the best for you. That higher junior year GPA is a huge plus, though. Hard to say if they will wait to see if you continue it into first semester senior year before making a decision on you.

@slg333

I don’t think there is a date where decisions will start to “flood the market”. Certainly the pace of notifications will continually increase through November and onto the notification deadline.

I applied SCEA to Tulane. I have a great GPA 97. My high school does not rank. My ACT is OK 28. I have a lot of leadership, EC’s, and Community Service. I showed a lot of interest and my brother is a Tulane Junior. I am hoping that my GPA which is on the higher end for Tulane makes up for my ACT which is on the lower end. What do you think @fallenchemist

I think you have a much better than 50-50 chance. Having a sibling there already certainly helps, but I think your stats get you in anyway, assuming the rest of your application is of similar quality.

Thank you! I believe my app is of similar quality, and my essays were good if I do say so! I sure hope that you are right. Thanks for the quick reply!

@fallenchemist my application was marked as complete around the first or second week of October. I have a 1990 SAT (i didn’t do as well as i had hoped), will have taken a total of 6 APs, take a rigorous course load with almost all honors/accelerated classes, have completed over 300 hours of community service through the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey Teen Advisory Council- a volunteer and leadership opportunity where I had 3 various leadership roles over 3 years of involvement. I have been varsity for XC/winter track/spring track all 4 years a captain for the past 2 years. I am involved in many clubs and the president of one of them and am in National Honor Society and a member of student council. I have a 99.04 weighted GPA (out of 100)…what do you think my chances are? would you consider me a borderline student?

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today, and I received the Distinguished Scholar Award.

Fantastic @sparks487 . Maybe you could copy and paste post #5 and fill it out.

@fallenchemist I put up the completed template on post #13 when I initially found out my acceptance on Gibson. CC isn’t letting me edit my post. Perhaps you can edit it as a Super Moderator?

Oh, sure. I didn’t realize that was you. Let me know if you want me to add anything else.
