<p>My DD is a senior at UCSD as a international Studies/film double major.</p>
<p>UCSD is a top school that is nudging both UCB and UCLA which are better known. </p>
<p>It is hard to beat the location, wonderful outdoor recreation, new Chancellor is from Carnegie Mellon, cementing an engineering/science focus. A stronger greek system or a football team might help create more school spirit. It has a bit of a layed back, spread out feel but do not let this mask the intense environment around the books. </p>
<p>Despite tight CA budgets, the physical resources being built on this campus speak to a strong future for this top UC campus. </p>
<p>DD has had no problems getting her International Studies classes but fulfilling her requirements for the film major have been hard from the start. I woud say it is more of an art film program and she is interested in documenaries so may drop it to a minor. So if you are concerned about state budget constraints, UCSD is on the rise vs UCB/UCLA, pick a well regarded major and stay focused.</p>
<p>To survive socially, find your niche. There are many to choose from so at first, cast your net wide and determine what feels right. Housing off campus is not cheap but available but I suggest staying on campus for as long as you can. </p>

<p>To those that got the call: Are you Freshman or Transfer??? When they say “posting decisions March 16th” is that Freshman or Transfer? I am a transfer student hoping for Regents scholarship, no call for me yet…</p>

<p>Out of the midwest, I just got a call that I got in! Not URM or engineering, so I’m not sure what’s happening there!</p>

<p>I live in China and received a call today from UCSD informing me that I was admitted. Muir and Biology I’m really pleased. Didn’t mention scholarship and didn’t ask either! basically stopped paying attention after a bit haha</p>
<p>@archaic Last year they kept on calling till a day before admission decisions came out.
So don’t loose hope.</p>
