admissions question

You should appeal. An individual last year did this successfully and he ended up being deferred. Keep your spirits up!!

Thanks. I have to remain positive.

drpeppersson,
Do you mind sharing your stats? I am not very hopeful about my daughter…

I thought it was a 27 ACT but was told superscore it was 26. SAT 1710.

GPA… sorry… I would rather not say. Suffice it to say, that it was what got me denied.

Had Ec’s Lettered in Weightlifting. Played Football. 100 comm service hours. Traveled around the world. Good Essay.

Bad grades did me in. My BAD!!! : (

Good luck overcome. My mother was nervous like you and she is really sad today about this USF decision!

Drpeppersson- Did you fit a profile in the eligibility matrix? I have around the same scores and a low GPA as well. I have already applied though

Bummer not getting in USF drpeppersson! Consider transferring to USF in a couple of years. Time goes fast, and it is not where you start that is important–it’s where you finish.

GPA and course rigor in high school are most important factors in getting into USF. It is difficult to get into USF with a GPA under 3.00 no matter what your test scores are.

Too, if you petition, don’t start up about all your EC’s in high school and how they should compensate for poorer GPA–the first thing the committee will say is you should have dropped some of your EC activities to devote more time to your studies and improving your grades. They hear the EC excuse with nearly every petition. Anyway, best of luck with your future academics wherever you end up attending college.

Thanks Lizard. No there are no excuses from me. I could have and should have done better. Coulda shoulda. I have no one to blame but myself. Still stings though.

drpeppersson-
Just read about your bad luck and I am very, very sorry.
I hope it all works out.
God Bless & Good Luck !

Thanks David! Have you heard back yet?

well, my daughetr GPA is only 3.3 weighted with decent test scores. She has not heard yet, so I am honestly not expecting her to get in. She has been accpted to her first choice which is Loyola U. Chicago, but it is quite expensive… we will see :frowning:
She has also been accpeted to FIU and FGCU, deferred from UCF for semester grades.
I am trying to convince her to stay in Fl and save money and like someone here said: “it is not where you start but where you finish”

Overcome, not sure if you live in the area but I am a student at FGCU and hate it. It’s a very small school, with a lot of horrible teachers. It’s very hard to make friends there unless you went to HS in the area and already know people… I also was accepted to FIU & FAU, they are really nice schools but horribly located. Loyola is expensive but is also a great school! My little sister just started her first year there and loves it! If you are leaning towards her staying in FL… any of the top schools would be good, UCF, USF etc. Good luck! :)
