I applied to a number of highly selective univs as a transfer student and i think I'm a competitive applicant. However, for a variety of reasons, I might get a B- or even a C+ in one of my courses this term. Does this grounds for my admissions to be rescinded if I am accepted? i have a relatively strong record otherwise, and i go to a selective school as it is.

When the universities accept you, they most likely will have "conditions of admission" for you and as long as you fulfill those conditions, your acceptances will remain valid.

Since this is your first post, we'll welcome you here to CC forum! :)

It is not all true because calculus based physics or calculus or higher maths, or organic chemistry, so on... are very difficult courses indeed.

You need much worse than one C+ to get your admission revoked, from ANY school. Several C's or a D and/or F might get you there, but even then msot schools ask for a reason for the poor grade and are quite flexible. Sometimes if one gets a D or F, they dont revoke the admission but put them on academic probation immediately upon arriving.

The only condition that I know of is completing all the classes that you have been enrolled in when you submitted your application.

It is different with Stanford but I am not sure about the details. I think that they look at you transcript to make sure everything looks good...

oops, it should have been: "Does this constitute grounds for..."

thanks for your responses everyone. i got to cornell and have never received a C in the past...i applied to harvard and yale. what do you think?

detraquee, you should be fine if it's only one course your worried about. Keep working hard, do your best and good luck . At the risk of being repetative, I just posted this on another thread just this morning....

"My s and some of his friends were recently lamenting this whole revokation issue because not too long ago (2003/04?) there was a rukus about a local kid who has had his admission to UNC-Chapel Hill revoked and unsuccessfully sued them to be re-instated. This guy (Mark Edmunson?) scored 1600 on his SAT, did well in all kinds of AP tests, but his GPA slipped from 3.8 to 3.5 his senior year. Why? His senior year GPA: 1.3 (c's, d's, f's).

"Senioritis: In advanced stages, it may be fatal
The Chapel Hill Herald
Seniors at Northwest High School in Greensboro had a simple rule to follow this past school year....In those cases, the students had a chance to explain why the grades slipped. Just a few ultimately had their admission revoked, said Jerry Lucido, UNC's director of undergraduate admissions." "

My conditions I have to get all As this semester in my chem and clac 2 course. If i were to get a C in one do you think they can take away admission. Also can i actually write them and tell them my reason for getting a poor grade.

do you think that one really bad grade would be grounds for rescinding admission? though i guess i don't want to get ahead of myself here, since i'm currently freaking out about whether or not i will get in at ALL...
