Quick summary: no. of applications is up 16% compared to this time last year (nearly 33,000 instead of 28.000). At the same time, the number of acceptances posted so far is smaller than the number at this time last year (nearly 4500 over 6000 last year).
And, by the way, I also do not know what these numbers imply. One explanation is that because of the number of applications, they could not process them quickly enough and had fewer acceptances to post in the first round. I do not know if there will be a drop in their acceptance rate in the end …
Wonder how much of that 16% increase in # of applicants is due to the 2015 National Championship Football team - in my son’s case the answer would be zero, but I’m sure that’s a draw for others.
@adlgel Impossible to tell … OSU has also been opening offices in other states and publicizing itself out-of-state aggressively. Another possibility is that more applicants are applying early, because it gets them benefit for National Buckeye scholarship (and even for admission in more selective programs, like engineering). So, it is possible that the final number of applications may not be up by as much.
