Admitted and Attending?

If you have been admitted and plan on accepting your offer! Discuss majors, classes, housing, campus, etc.

I’ve been admitted and I’m planning on attending! I’ve been put in pre-science, and will most likely try for psychology  Don’t know much about what classes I should take…or which dorms are the best…so any advice on that would be great and much appreciated

I’ve been admitted an plan on going. Computer Science, me and my bros trying to house at Lander. Each room has it’s own bathroom! I

Admitted and attending too, I will pursue a double major in marketing and cinema studies! I want to get a dorm in west campus, I like Alder a lot but they are opening 2 brand new dorms in fall 2015.

Are the dorms in West campus the best? I don’t really know much about the dorms :frowning:

@ferdinand32 yes yes yes. I’m in state (Olympia, just an hour south of Seattle) and I’m quite familiar with the campus. I think they’re a bit more expensive than the north campus dorms, but in my opinion it’s 100% worth it. All the west campus dorms have huge rooms (huge in terms of dorms) and brand-new everything.

Okay cool, I will definitely keep that in mind, thank you!! Are there any specific dorms in West campus that are better than the other?

@ferdinand32 Rooms and style is all the same, each one has a different courtyard though. The “oldest” ones are from 2011 and the new ones will be finished this fall. They differ in size (Poplar is smaller whereas Lander is bigger), what’s on the bottom floor (Alder has a grocery store, Elm has a gym, etc.), and some have floors with certain themes or majors. So really, it’s just your preference

Ahh I see, do you know if the campus tours show the dorms or give any information about the dorms? Thank you so much for your help btw!

@ferdinand32 no problem! They do have dorm tours every so often, I went on one and they show you Lander (newest right now) but I also have a friend in Poplar who has told me a lot about the dorms. They show you all the facilities in Lander, it was nice to see exactly how big those rooms are- much bigger than any other college dorm room I have been in!

Wow awesome! I’ll definitely sign up for a campus tour to check everything out

Admitted. Would love to attend, but I didn’t get direct admission to computer science, and I’m hesitant to take the risk of being barred from the major.

@CausticKiwi I feel the same way about the business major but UW is my dream school so I’m just going and planning on working extremely hard in my prerequisites

I’ll probably end up doing the same. Good luck with it.

How did you find out about pre-major science? Have anyone received the welcome packet from UW yet?
Is it better to get a double room or a triple room at Lander?

@CausticKiwi‌ is regular admission into computer science hard to get into if you have all prerequisites done?

seattlewasabi - Your online unofficial transcript will have your major, as well as the large packet you receive in the mail after your gold envelope. There’s still technically a chance that you get direct admission a few weeks after your general admission (fingers crossed), but from what I’ve heard, the chances are very slim.

phillipiscool - Short answer, yes. Thirty to forty percent acceptance rate, and from what I’ve heard, that’s out of students with GPA’s well above 3.0. I’ve been trying to find out exactly how hard it is (I’m relaying all of this to you second-hand, of course) but I know it’s far from a guaranteed thing.

I have been admitted and would love to attend. But as others on this thread I’m just worried since I’m not DA to CS. I’m an international applicant btw.

I am still waiting on one school (which I most likely won’t get into) but I will most likely be attending UW!
How do you know if you’re DA into your major?
