Admitted-Students trip?

i got accepted ED and like a month ago i got some mail saying the admitted students are invited to a orientation/or something thingy during the 2nd or 3rd week of April. The letter didnt have any specifics but said we were to receive something more in the mail later on.

Has anyone gotten anything?
Is the college paying for the trip?

Penn Previews you mean? I think they only pay if you don't have the means to get there ie you're poor. But I'm looking forward to it!

Yeah, I think you just have to show up. Well, that's what I'm going to do, at least.

more info in the big packet coming soon

I hear Amy Gutmann will give you a free lapdance if you're really really P.O.O.R

I'm going on the 10th (though I'll be spending the day before in Philly).

Anyone have any idea what the visit consists of exactly? It's like seven hours long.

We're all going to the Philadelphia Zoo and getting cotton candy

And what about the other five hours?

self defense classes

The other 5 hours we go to the nursery and take a nap

ok just wanted 2 no thnx

edit: so r we taking slf defense class or going 2 teh nuresy?

zomg, hi 2 u.

we leik go play n stuff. u no?

ED accepted students should have received a letter about Previews back in January.

"You will have the opportunity to meet your future classmates, current students, faculty and staff. Planned activities include College House tours, class visits, lunch with faculty members, student panels, financial aid information sessions and much more."....."please feel free to bring your parents and/or guardians."

There will be a formal invitation sent out along with a reconfirmation of admission letter on March 30, 2006. They'll ask you to RSVP then, but the letter said to go ahead and book any travel arrangements.

wait, so we're not going to the zoo?

argh, cant find my letter. what are the days we can go?

someone told me that penn does not pay for the trip...at least not for ED student

Why the hell would Penn pay for it?

jpps1:
Because some other colleges do... my friend got in Wash U in St. Louis early, and they're flying him out (all expenses paid) for their preview weekend.

I wouldn't expect Penn (or any other college) to pay for an optional trip.

Well, here you go:
http://celebrationweekend.wustl.edu/admissions/home.nsf/pages/celebrationweekend
"Visit us as our guest with travel, food, and housing provided to you free of charge. The only cost to you is a non-refundable $25 registration fee."

Since some colleges obviously pay for their admitted students' travel and housing, I don't see why you had to be so rude to the person who asked if it was free or not..
