I have a 1990 on my sat I but I have a 610 on both my sat IIs. English lit and math II.
I heard that sats don't really count after high school and that there would be no point in me retaking either standardized tests?? Is this true? I want to apply to nyu cas, Columbia fu, and cooper union engineering. Should I just be focusing on getting a high gpa this freshman year?

I'm mainly trying to get into nyu but I'm applying to columbia and CU as reaches. I'm currently enrolled at Fordham Lincoln center and I was waitlisted for nyu last year but was turned down. I was rejected from Columbia. I have a $10000 scholarship to Fordham, will that help my chances at all for transferring?

I really wantto go to nyu, what should I be focusing on and is it a waste of time to retake the sats? Thanks a lot for the help people.

If you get top grades in substantial courses at Fordham, that will be a big plus in transfer acceptance. That and a good reason for wanting the transfer. Just preferring the other schools is usually not good enough of a reason. If the potential for continuing your major is just better that is considered the best reason for transfer.

Well if I go to NYU, I plan to go into law with whatever undergraduate degree. I only plan to continue my engineering career if I get into Columbia or Cooper Union. I'm assuming I will need different transfer paper for each school.

What about the SATs? Does anyone know if Columbia or Cooper Union accepts retakes after I enter college? I am already sure that NYU will not accept a retake of my SATs after I enter college which sucks because of my SAT II marks.

I'm trying to show the colleges that I am more serious this time around. But without the standardized tests I guess I only have my freshman GPA, reference letters, and transfer/personal statements to do that.

Well if you apply for fall '09, they will see your 1st semester grades and mid yr scores, so there's still a lot of focus on high school. you don't have to retake the sat but nyu/columbia/cu will still see them, and yours is kind of low. you didn't mention what your hs gpa is, but it will be a factor. do really well 1st semester in college, because that's all they're really going to see. if you have any questions about nyu, feel free to ask.

I realize that mine are kind of low so I want to retake them but will NYU not count my retaken scores, will they? I'm not really sure what my high school GPA is, we didn't have that where I'm from but I sit at about a 80-95% in any given subject for high school.
