Hi everyone! I have an on campus interview on Thursday and I would be very appreciative if anyone who knows/has been through the process can give me advice on the type of questions they ask and how to prepare! Thanks in advance.
I am the parent of a son who had an on-campus interview. The interviewer will, I believe, be a senior UG student. In his experience, the interviewer was very good at making him comfortable (he was initially nervous), and he characterized it as more like a conversation than an interview.
I would suggest having in mind some questions that you honestly have, and that can’t be answered in 2 minutes with Google.
Remember that they want to like you. They like Yale, and want you to like it also, especially if it’s a fit for you.
I know it’s easier said than done, but relax.
@IxnayBob thank you so much!
I am a Yale Sophomore and had an on-campus interview. Like the previous post, it felt more conversational than an interview, and we actually wound up walking to a nearby coffee house as we spoke (that helped me relax, I guess I was lucky that the weather was nice and my interviewer wanted some fresh air). I approached all of my college interviews as two-way conversations in which I, too, was deciding if I would be happy there. I applied RD to Yale and had already been asked the typical college interview questions by H, P, and M (just Google to get them); of course, have answers for those sorts of questions, but take it from one who has been through it, your interviewer will be supportive and truly interested in sharing why he/she loves Yale and learning about the best in you. Good luck
