I applied to NYU stern for freshman admission but I was rejected. I will now be attending the Kogod School of Business and I wish to apply to Stern for fall 2016 as a transfer student. In high school, I was the founder and president of the investment club and was part of the student government as treasurer. My SAT was 1820 and my GPA unweighted was a 3.69. I would like some advice on getting accepted to NYU Stern as a transfer. I want to make that my goal as I attend college and make my application strong. I had a weak application as a high schooler and I wish to really achieve my goal and go to NYU Stern.
Can you please give me some advice on how to make my freshman year in college a good indicator to admissions that i am ready for Stern?
Get a 3.7+ at your current school, participate in a few extracurriculars, and develop strong relationships with 3 of your professors. Aside from good grades, strong recommendations from your professors and a very persuasive essay will be the decision makers for a successful transfer.
Not really. A lot of schools will have required freshman coursework which will take up a few of your credits. My coursework was broken out as shown below. It would probably help to include a few business/quantitative courses just to show your interest. The transfer application included all of my first semester grades, which I believe was in February. The NYU admissions office then contacted me in April/May for my mid-spring semester grades.
