After the interview -- a likely letter?

Last Friday I had a phone interview with the transfer admission officer, Katie Deponty. I thought it went really well; we talked for thirty minutes (which I guess is long for a phone conversation). Today I got a letter in the mail that goes something like this:

Dear Pretzelbreaker,
It was a pleasure to speak with you on the telephone about your interest in Whitman College. I enjoyed learning about your academic background and your varied activities. Based upon our conversation, I feel that Whitman could be an excellent place for you. ... Your academic record is impressive and demonstrates great promise for success at Whitman. I look forward to discussing Whitman with you further.

Did anybody else receive something like this after an interview? Is this a generic follow-up? I've never had an interview for a school before, so I don't know how these things go. Any input would be much appreciated; don't want to get my hopes up.

Thanks y'all!

I received a strikingly similar letter after my phone interview. It's not a likely letter, it's just a Thank You letter.

But you got in, didn't you? (Congrats, by the way.) So there's no real way to know unless we hear of someone who got this letter and didn't get in.

Thanks for the input! Anybody else get one?

No problem!

I did get in, but at the time of my phone interview (12/14/07), I hadn't submitted my application yet. I actually wasn't even sure I was applying at that time. And I got the letter before I submitted my app. So I don't think it's a likely letter, but you're right, until someone who got rejected also says they got the letter, we won't know for sure.

But I'm pretty sure it's just customary to send a thank you note after an interview.

Good luck! Whitman is amazing.
