A few questions concerning these games. Does the entire Brigade attend both games, or just the Army one? Is it true that midshipmen run to the Army-Navy game? And is it possible to see parents/friends after or before the games?

The entire Brigade only goes to the Army Navy game.

One of the companies - do not remember which "runs" the ball up to Phili. Not the entire brigade. You will be on many many buses, with state patrol escort.
You will not have any time to see parents before the game. We saw our Plebe during half time and again after the game. As for after the game things have changed since our Mids plebe year so I am not sure anyone can tell you what will be allowed.

For the Class 0f '09 they got an overnight, due to Navy win, in Philadelphia. I believe they then had to arrange own transportation back to Annapolis.
For the Class of '10 they got an overnight back in Annapolis - they had to return on the buses.
For Class of '11 game was in Baltimore - no overnight, a Class of '11 parent or Mid will need to comment on what was allowed for the Plebes last year.

Before the game not usually, but after the game there are usually a few seperate bus runs, and unless its changed, plebes used to be able to take the bus immediately after the game, or the one that left at midnight

We have been able to see our Mid before the A-N games for both years now. The Mids have to stay in their company areas in the parking lot, however many parents find their way over there for a quick "hello" before the game, and it's the perfect opportunity to establish a meeting place for afterwards. Parents do not hang out in the area mind you; more like a quick "hello, hug and photo" before we head into our seats and the Mids form up for the game....in the past we have brought some home-made cookies or brownies to passed around the company, which have been appreciated! (we also bring extra handwarmers....they get "issued" some, but the extra's we bring always manage to find a home in someone's pocket!!)

Mids will sit together for the game, and there is usually time afterwards to meet and tailgate, at least until the busses pull out! In the past, there have been "early" busses heading back to Annapolis (leave about an hour after the game ends) and "later" busses...your Mid will be told what time they have to be back. Let your Mid be your guide as to what will work best for them- some have a pile of work waiting for them back on the yard, and as much as they might like to take a later bus, there are reasons why they might want to leave earlier.

Something else to consider-
there is a fundraiser out of West Point where you can order a panoramic picture of the entire Brigade of Midshipmen or the Corps of Cadets after they complete their march-on into the stadium.... not too expensive, and worth every penny! Notices go out over the parent's listserv (at least for USNA), so keep your eyes peeled and make sure to get your order in! You will need a magnifying glass to find your "Waldo," but the sight of all those white covers out on the field is amazing!

As far as the USNA-Air Force Game:
if held at home, the entire Brigade attends.
If held at AF, Mids can ask for a movement order to attend. In the past they were relatively easy to get, however under ADM Fowler, the number of mids granted MO's for away games has been very limited, it at all. (For plebes, highly unlikely they will go..... upperclass can attend away games if they are on liberty, however that usually does not start until after their last committment on Fri evening, or early Saturday, thus, not always allowing sufficient time to travel to an away game.)

As Navy2010 pointed out....it is definitely possible for a greeting before the game! Plebers-to-be, especially ones from warm areas...buy hand and foot warmers, they are worth every cent...I was never issued them, but they are relatively cheap to buy in the Mid Store.

Also, if you get the chance to go to USAFA for the Navy/AF game...go! You probably won't see it any other time unless you go on exchange. I didn't go my plebe year, but I did my 2/C year. I think the USNA administration would support going to USAFA for the football game. As a 2/C, I went on the USNA MO and didn't pay for absolutely one thing!!! We took a Navy C-9 to Colorado Springs from Andrews, slept in the dorms at USAFA, and missed Friday classes (this probably wouldn't happen under this administration). I am glad that I went and my host (3rd Degree) and I shared stories/experiences and how their daily life differed from mine. I also saw three of my companymates on exchange. It was a worthwhile 3 days...especially since we won!

Let me add...it was completely free...so that was a bonus. There were other MO's that allowed MIDN to provide their own transportation, but I think it was a hassle because most flew into Denver, then had to find transportation to Colorado Springs, and lodging. I believe there was a small reimbursement for those MOs. The down side to flying in a C-9 was traveling in SDBs...but that definitely outweighed the cost.

So if you get the chance and you are willing to pay or it's free, take it!
Also, there are a handful of events that allow MIDN to go to West Point and I would recommend going to at least one...even if you have to go in uniform!

13th does the ball run. Air Force will be away this year. And you have to take a weekend if you go out there I think. So no thanks.
Almost no one got MOs this year and I think you usually had to take a weekend for them. Plebes got to go to a sprint football game at cornell for a few hours. And the MO for plebes to WP they had to leave at 5 and came back that night at midnight. And those were both plebe only MOs.

This is USAFA's year! :D
