Alabama Action Question

My DD signed up in April of last year…

I do know we attended one of the first honors orientations and the Honors department spoke highly of the two programs and folks literally ran to the Honors office to sign up…many kids did not get in. (those who tried to sign up at orientation).

So if you are interested in either program it may be worth the early sign up!

And DD loved every bit of it and hopes to do AA Costa Rica next summer…

Applying by the priority deadline for AA and OA should get you a spot in the program of your choice as the programs don’t usually fill up by then. By applying later, you risk the program you want being full. Eventually, there will be an e-mail confirmation of your acceptance IIRC. I do remember them mailing out the final information packets for AA participants a little late this year so that I was already in Alabama when it arrived at my house (they also posted the info online). There should also be a facebook group that, at least for Alabama Action, one has to be confirmed by a group administrator to join.

AL34, I’m with you on all these early deadlines and implied “threats” from universities that if you don’t plunk down non-refundable deposits early, your kid might get screwed on housing and curricular choices. Although my son is not yet in a position to make a fully informed, final choice about college, we’ve plunked down our fair share of deposits to a few schools, fearing that if we don’t, the wonderful selection he finally makes will not be as wonderful as advertised.

Perhaps the universities have learned from the airlines who charge for baggage. They do it because they can :)

That said, we sent in his application for Outdoor Action last week.
